I love the SD docks. Nice to see the SDs have no landing gears like the venator ones. Im digging this idea for sure :)

^It just reminds me of the Gay Daleks (enter at your peril).
Another idea I had recently was to not show the full metal moon design of the Death Star until the Falcon is pulled in by the tractor beam.
Show models shots of the station 'landscape' with fighters shuttles and distant Star Destroyers etc and/or cut straight to interior scenes.
The main weapon firing could be re-framed to give greater focus on the dish and obscure the total shape and scale of the station.
That way when the Falcon is heading for 'that small moon' the audience will be surprised by the size of that thing.
We know it's big but finding out just how big should be a wow moment.
Just to be very radical for a moment, I think the Death Star should be unfinished. Perhaps more finished than in RotJ but still visibly still under construction.
That way the plans could be proof that the Empire is constructing a superweapon, rather than just being a technical readout which they hope will provide details of a weakness (though this was never guaranteed). Also it makes it more reasonable that the rebels would attack before it is completed, and more likely that they could scrape a victory.
I dont think it would be hard to change the views of the DS to look unfinished, it would just require the script to be checked for references to it being complete. It could still be operational with regards to being able to fire its main weapon.

Like TFU's one?

Yeah maybe, just something that is visually incomplete, but yet still clearly daunting. We would see from the destruction of Alderaan that it is operational, but like between scenes you would imagine the rebels taking the attitude that its best to stop it before it is finished.

Angel what I think he was referring to is like at 9:53 in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnTGy9jS-Dg&fmt=18
Indeed, I was referring to that excact gesture. But seen from the outside of the window, in the DS. I think I posted a preview a couple of posts ago.
PS: Yeap, here it is
This might work for a fan-edit, (radical)
First time I saw ANH, I was caught up slightly by Luke and the X-wing. It was a little like going from an old bi-wing canvas and wood crop-duster and hopping into the cockpit of a F15 fighter jet. The novelization gave a little exposition on that, but the movie only gave suggestions of Luke's ability.
What if our first glimpse of Luke is of him in daredevil low-level flight of some sub-orbital "hopper""? At first, we only see a giant insect (OX mask and helmet) and an insect like craft. We have no idea whether it is another scary enemy or what it's business is. The pilot sees the battle on a cockpit display and is so drawn to the battle that it hurls it's little craft upward. The craft roars and alarms start to wail until it reaches apogee and the pilot pulls out binoculars to look at the ships. Then the craft suffers a blow-out or something and falls. The pilot saves the ship at the last possible moment before crash. Then we see the pilot pull off the mask and the monster is really a teen-aged farm boy.
Yeah, no reveal until later might work. just the ship in the background.
TBH, at this point, I'm fishing for info. Wondering whether anyone here knows somebody who knows somebody who knows whether the additional LS/UO dialogue about the empire in orbit was filmed, still usable, might be on the BR (prompted by the B&W trailor I saw here of LS watching battle next to vaporator.)
That scene was cut before any ADR was done, and (so far) the dialogue hasn't been released. The B/W scene was just from a demo reel and not from the actual film masters. Maybe the Blu-ray will have it?

yea, but by Episode IV, all they were doing it getting weapon systems online and testing them.
Read Death Star Novel: Talks about how there first test was on a planet they had been orbiting. blew away half the planet.
That must all be on the BD :o)
I'm thinking some very faint foreshadowing of the twins might work in the case of Vader. Esp. If alternates and deleted BR extras provide more.
In Tat orbit, Vader could stop and say something like "I know there's something... more than one...?" On the DS a vague mention of multiple disturbances and in reference to Leia "Even some who are not adepts can can show remarkable ability to draw strength from the Force.
I thought Tarkin could say something like "Everything about you is illigitimate-adopted daughter of the rebellion." Ben's reason for seperating was that together they were making too strong of an impression, so he went off to deactivate the beam (maybe sensed that luke would seek Leia, too.) Ben or Leia (hologram) mentioned that Leia came to Tat because she sensed she could find help there. (These are probably beyond fanedits.) :)
That's all I can remember for ANH. I'm sure others have mentioned my remaining points before. :)
EDIT: Oh- In the DS conference, "They are a threat" guy could drop the expo about X-wings and why the systems can resist. :)

My main thinking behind this is that in my 'perfect' saga fan edit/ideas then there would be no Death Star in RotJ, therefore, the Death Star in A New Hope could be changed to something more along the lines of the one from RotJ without it resulting in a copy that appears in two films.
Also another dream would be for the saga to have continued to Episode 9 where the Emperor would finally be destroyed, and this could potentially reveal a finished Death Star. By showing the two versions in this order it allows an audience to be more concerned the second time round because it knows just how powerful the unfinished Death Star from Episode 4 was so when we see a finished one in Episode 9 everyone would know how serious the problem was. But like I said this is just dreaming because an additional 3 films goes far beyond the scope of a fan edit. However, I don't think that necessarily invalidates my reasoning behind the changing of the Death Star in Episode 4.
In regards to the Jabba scene, which currently looks awful because of the unrealistic CGI and the tail problem and is largely redundant because the Greedo scene says it all, how about shifting Han (and possibly Chewie) to Jabba's Palace?
If it's near enough for Jabba to visit the Docking Bay from there, it's near enough for Han to travel in the opposite direction.
The puppet is much better than any CGI model,no tail problem as Han can now circle another character and more importantly it serves (by shifting context) a new purpose.
Han has just killed Greedo so he is delivering a direct message to Jabba that he isn't impressed by his goons threatening him in Jabba's name and that he will soon pay back the money.
The line "You didn't think I'd run" has added impact because Han has done the opposite and walked right into the palace to talk to the Hutt personally.
It also preserves the Falcon reveal which a lot of people were upset about the SE spoiling.
Good idea about Jabba. I too had an idea, though not so radical. Jabba's lines can be rewritten to make them more intimidating, while Han's remain the same, which make him a bit more of a wise guy in the face of a legitimate threat. Moreover, his booming laugh should be added in a couple of spots, most obviously after Han calls him a "wonderful human being." Moreover, I think he should be bigger. He looks to be smaller in SW than in ROTJ, which has always bothered me a bit. There has to be something that could be done about Han walking behind him. With modern CGI technology, I think perhaps he could be made to appear to walk in front instead. Just my two cents to improve the scene.
^ I think I remember a suggestion here from someone about simply cutting to Fett at the moment Han is about to cross the tail. I suggested doing that for the muppet :=o swallowing the camera in the SE dance number.
Has Max even got a mouth to swallow anything with?
I believe he's referring to J'ywz'gnk Kchhllbrxcstk Et'nrmdndlcvtbrx
Arrrrrrghh My Eyes!
"Jowza is delivering more than lyrics in his entertaining style—he's communicating joy. If I didn't hear it myself with my own ears, I'd swear it's telepathic. But it's not. It's an actual pitch that affects me and makes me happy. Many species I've observed—even if they don't like the sound of the voice—will end up clapping and cheering when Joh Yowza finishes a set."
FAIL
Has anybody ever thought of doing something about the repeat Greedo that shows up about 51 minutes in?
I've always found it very jarring to see a guy we just saw murdered walking around like it ain't nothin'. I remember pausing it as a kid and going "Look! See! He's alive!"
I know there's probably some EU explanation about traditional Rodian jumpsuits or something, but I'd rather see this dealt with.
I threw this together quickly, just to show the sort of thing I mean.
