"Red Harvest"

After digging "Death Troopers" I decided to give this "Zombies of the Old Republic" a shot.

No. Bad idea.

SPOLIERS FOR THE FIRST 30 PAGES OR SO FOLLOW

Right off the bat it's about the Sith. You know, the SITH, the evil warrior caste of darkside users who have plunged the galaxy into war and terror countless times? Those guys.

Well the story starts on the Sith Academy. Within the first chapter or so it turns out that Sith-A was beat up by Sith-B when they were Freshman, and Sith-C took a photo of Sith-A naked and tied to a bed.

Yes. The SITH ACADEMY OF EVIL is an unpleasent summer camp. I imagine Darth Maul used to get his bed short-sheeted, and they once shorted out Vader's robot hand by putting it in warm water.

I closed the book and took it back to the library immediatly following that scene.

Well, now I demand you finish the book and report to us so we don't have to.

No can do. Put it in the library drop-box this morning. And I owe like, $3.50 in fines, so I'm too embarrased to go back in.

When I found out the antagonist was going to be named Darth Scabrous, I knew right away this was a book to avoid.

Death Troopers was crap, but at least it didn't touch on the Dork Age Sith.

Del Rey sucks gritty shit.

^Yewwwuwww!

I was amused to read that the original title of Black Orchid was rejected because it sounded like a romance novel, when it also the title of one of the better Fifth Doctor Doctor Who stories which is actually rather nasty (in a good way).

This sounds like the makings of a really, really, really, really awesome new teenage angst drama! Come on CW! You know people would eat it up! Would-be future Sith Lords making each others lives a living hell, sex, black mail, feuds, sounds like this thing has all the right elements. Now it just needs to make the jump from paper to Wednesday nights on our TV sets.

I did enjoy death troopers. It was by no means a masterpiece but I enjoy zombie stories. I read Red harvest a couple months ago. It was rather bland and stupid now that I think back on it. Basically after that there is a character that you can somewhat root for (A jedi woman) who somehow ends up at the sith academy, after that there's a bunch of overly descriptive gruesome occurrences of scabrous experimenting on random sith students then the disease gets loose and everyone turns into a zombie then theres a scene where the jedi girl some how stops time and kills a bunch of them (That was really weird) then she escapes on some ship. (insert a bunch of forgettable scenes in there) and that's it. Definitely not going to read it again.

Almost forgot to mention my annoyance that they stole the title from Dashiel Hammet's best book. Lack of creativity much?

It was bad enough when they ruined the EU with retcons to fit the prequels, now the creativity is stifled because of Lucas Clone Wars series.

You cannot have anymore off the wall EU if it has to be approved by Lucas himself.

"I decided to change the canon its my canon and i can do what i want, I want" IS how i picture Lucas.

I want the canon i grew up with restored, the prequels deleted selectively from at  least being referenced constantly  To me continuity is the novelizations of the oot, the first 2 radio dramas and the films.

They are no longer G-Canon, what nonsense.

I say they should let an author pen a trilogy extrapolated from the oot as to what the prequels should be, no i don't believe it is a directors prerogative to reinvent a movie, not when there was nothing wrong with it to begin with.

The special editions and prequels will always be resented because they gave him license to reboot the universe, create star wars universe b in which the oot trilogy has been erased from existence.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

This books sounds completely ridiculous.

I'll stick to the subtlety and nuance of "The Glove of Darth Vader" thank you very much.

I don't really know if Lucas should be blamed for the state the EU's in currently. Except for having Anakin Solo disposed of and limiting the use of Wookiee Jedi, Lucas doesn't interfere with the EU all that often.

I think most of the blame should fall on the various editors, writers, etc. running the EU. If they wanted to, they could work around the PT, ignoring or subverting it's existence while working in other eras while still acknowledging it as canon. But they don't, because they are just a bunch of obvious sycophants who just love to shove prequelisms into each and every era outside of the PT.
