Great job on the rotoscoping, then, because they totally look like the original sabres most of the time (except where they're improved, such as where you made Luke's sabre the proper length). Perfect!

The sabers in my logo are from Ady's template, so everyone should already be used to the colors! ;-)

Great clip! The inconsistency of the sabers on the DVD is ridiculous.

I have a question: was that creaking noise (metal being pulled away from wall) at around 2:39 always there, or was it emphasized more for the 2004 DVD? I don't like it. It's so...prominent. :/

My only problem is that I don't really like the light coming from where the sabres are touching, it was never there in any of the original films

The flash when two sabers meet was first seen in the original duel between Vader and old Ben, I love that we're seeing consistency with that. =)

Erm, no. We don't see light coming out of the point the sabres are touching each other when they stay together in any of the OT films. There's only a flash at the moment they clash and that's always been in all the OT films.

But it's awesome how Ady re-rotoscoped the LS while keeping their original look. People always say how they should have newly re-rotoscoped the sabres in the SE but I'm really glad they didn't, because they'd never do such a fine job as what Ady's giving us here, they would just re-rotoscope them to look like in the prequels, which are horrible - the OT LS have an organic feel to them, they flicker, which is something that was completely left out of the prequels, where the LS just look so perfect that they look fake, or at least in ep2 and 3, LS actually looked pretty  good in TPM. And Ady kept this organic feel, while enhancing them tastefully where necessary and that's awesome and something I'm afraid we'd never get from LFL.

Yeah Harmy, what Ady is giving us is the SE's that we really should have had....every addition (or subtraction), every tweak and modification are very carefully considered for taste and improvement.....I genuinely get that nostalgic excitement when I see any clips,.....funny that I don't when I see or hear about the impending BD Boxset release.

This is not 100% for this thread, but it ties into ESB enough I figure. The scene of Luke in the cave on Dagobah was always one of those things that I thought we'd see more of in the PT. When Luke goes down there we start to see that theres a structure, a hallway of sorts, and I always liked to think that it was so imbued with dark vibes due to some long past Sith business or some such......perhaps one sith lord betrayed and killed another here in this same spot, and it has always retained some of that negative energy. Yoda could even have picked the planet on purpose, thinking to use the area to train new Jedi.....anyways, just a thought, and another way the PT could have been cooler.

Really nice preview once again!

Your lightsaber efforts look terrific, and seeing Luke's saber briefly retracting as he crashes through the window is one of those little details I really hoped to see in your edit eventually.  Looks great. :)

hey adywan when you get to the audio part of the production will you match the sound of the lightsaber activating once he grabs it cause at .55 the sound comes in much earlier

The sabres seem to look better in Empire:Revisited than the sabres in Star Wars:Revisited. In Star Wars they kind of stood out, but in Empire. They don't really

If you notice, the shape of the structure resembles the hallways in the gantry structure on Cloud City. I always saw this as a prophecy of Luke's impatience  to save his friends and thus face Vader before he was ready, could lead to the dark Side and that is why Luke's face is in the helmet. Like father like son

See people? This is the kind of stuff the Force was supposed to be about. Midichlorians.....pshhhhh

To tell the truth, I never liked the look of "the cave" in ESB. I didn't like that it looked like some sort of hidden or long buried structure. It should have just been a cave, nothing more.

I see Luke coming into the cave and then being met by fog. After a few moments, Vader appears out of the fog.

That's how I would've done it if I was the director. Vader is merely a manifestation of Luke's mind since obviously he is not there. Luke is surprised/shocked to see Vader, but we all know he shouldn' be since he saw exactly what he wanted to see. Making it look more in line with what I would would call a "dream-like" sequence would have been a better choice for Lucas/Kersh in my opinion.

Also, I find it strange that people who don’t like the midi-chlorian thing always seem to want an explanation as to why “that place is strong with the dark side of the Force." Who cares? I know that in my life I’ve been in places and even whole cities that have given me a weird, even downright cold vibe. I don’t find myself asking for an explanation.

I think that the "why is that place so strong in the dark side of the force" question is for more valid than some of the other things that were explained in the PT (ex: Midichlorians, Boba Fett, C3PO), but I never needed to have the cave explained, just thought it could have been one cool direction they could have taken (amongst many)

But do you like that it appears to be some structure with an archway, or would you have preferred it to be simply a cave?

See, I think the look of it raised the questions. If it was just a cave, well, I doubt it would've gotten to the point where the EU got involved in order for there to be some explanation given...no matter how awful.

i definitely liked that it was a structure with a past....i actually DO like when little details raise questions (especially when they're unanswered), it makes the film universe seem that much grander and real to me. (though i must say Ady's take on it is rather intriguing as well)

I think the flash/glow as the sabers are in contact with each other is a PT addition to the sabers that they actually got right and improved them. But all the other changes to the sabers like removing the flickering, giving them pointed ends  & making them too sharp ruined the PT sabers.

Plus, the PT lightsabers no longer have that crackling sound when they clash!

Also, for the ESB:R blu-ray, will you be using the new 6.1 DTS-HD MA track as a basis for it?

Provided it no longer suffers from swapped channels/muted audio like the DVDs. I really hope that this will be the best Star Wars track ever, apart from a few audio changes like restoring Boba Fett's original voice :)
