Yeah, Jedi from the start might work best. Better reuse too.

Intro of the Jedi (informed by PT): I like the central temple idea. Maybe take it further by showing the Council's formal position within the Republic constitution. The Council serves as the Supreme Court (judicial), next to the Senate (legislative) and the Chancellery (Executive). The Masters not on the council could serve as a sort of diplomatic/lower court arbiters. The knights could serve as a sort of judicial police. This would require covering a great deal of ground with a few words in the crawl.

Edited: ".... While The Galactic Senate is lost in argument and the executive orders of The Supreme Chancellor go unheeded, The Jedi Council, The Supreme Court of the galaxy, has dispatched two of their most powerful Jedi Knights to arbitrate a settlement to the conflict that threatens to tear The Senate apart and cause the collapse of The Galactic Republic. But there is no hope of the Jedi reaching Naboo in time to stop invasion and spare the Royal House..."

Perhaps Yoda could be used to draw out the boy's true feelings towards the Council and the Republic and his warrior heritage. After being harried, Ani could throw his head back, expose his bare throat in a gesture of his people as say "I am A Son Of Skywalkers, and I-Do-Not-Fear." "The Council can see that you fear not, a battle. In peace, may you go, young one."

One thing that bothered me about the PT is that I never understood exactly why Ani didn't just walk up to Yoda and Mace, stomp on their toes, then tell them where to shove their conception of the Force and that he was going home to get sweet nooky from his WIFE! >:(

Maybe, in the Republic, uncontrolled force wielders are like loose nukes. It might be mentioned in each ep that the Jedi have authority, not spoken or written, to deal with them. Everyone will look the other way. This could set up another great conflict between Ani and the Jedi. The Jedi's primary reason for accepting Ani might be to make him subject to the Jedi code. If their was a special Planet where the Force is in such motion that it cannot be used by confused Force sensitive people, and if it was desert world, then Ani would face an intolerable threat of exile from the Council.

    Later :)
