Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist — Page 306

I remember the idea of resurrecting the (original?) intent of having the DSII orbiting the Imperial Capital (Corouscant, let's call it) was briefly discussed. As I'm not one to entirely throw an idea out, did we ever talk about what it would take to do that? I mean, I guess it would ruin all the Endor stuff, which is a problem....

ROTJ Storyboard Reconstruction Project

^Not really as the Endor sequences could be set on Endor, the forest moon of Coruscant which serves as a sanctuary for the Death Star shield.

However would it make sense?

That would be like having the Manhattan Project built in Manhattan in terms of Galactic secrets.

Would the Alliance fleet be able to survive a direct attack on the capital planet even without a Death Star (or Two) being there, with the normal level of security?

It makes less sense than Luke's rescue plan of Han.

That way in an eventual ROTS edit, it'd be a nice reason to set a constant Star Destroyers patrol around Coruscant. Right after Palpatine establishes the Empire.

Two ideas popped into my head today in regards to ROTJ.

The first one was as well as projecting the energy shield the forest moon could also project a giant hologram of the incomplete sections of the Death Star.

When the main weapon fires up the power drain could drop the hologram and reveal the Death Star as literally complete (not just the weapon but the whole thing) and twice the size.

It would be a very visual metaphor for just how far into the do-do the fleet have flown.

On the other end of the spectrum I thought it might be interesting to have hardly any Death Star at all, only a smaller version superweapon.

Which would demonstrate that the Emperor's might is mostly a sham (Wizard Of Oz style).

That would make the Endor battle more believable as a near end point in the War.

The Empire had already over stretched itself but had thrown everything in on one ambush gambit which fails.

Two words for your two ideas: HELL and YEAH

Watching Returning to Jedi at present, so I just thought I'd make sure that it was stated: New Endor Strike Team sequences should be sure to include the Prune Faces.

I'm definitely thinking the Endor strike team bits need to be fleshed out. (which is why I had suggested the idea of showing the results of Vader giving his permission for the search for the remaining rebels) Seems to me that theres so much "cute" to be taken out, that theres gonna be more than enough room to put new stuff like this in

What was the purpose of these guys anyways? or were they just another alien species thrown in?

PRUNE FACE!!!

When your face is a Prune, action goes BOOM!!!

I always thought that the Prune Faces looked like bad attempts to turn the Emperor Hologram from the OOT ESB into a wearable mask.

I'm all for putting them into the ground battle but the masks in the existing footage need a lot of Adywan style animating and any new shots of them need to be shot with more realistic looking faces.

They look like the sort of creatures who would have some sort of bizarre personal weapon like a laser boomerang or an oversized robot boomerang...some sort of boomerang would be a good idea.

The Prune face costume is another example of how "cheap" ROTJ looked by reusing old props & costumes. Underneath the cape he is wearing the Hoth Trooper vest

yeah they pretty much phoned in it on almost every aspect of ROTJ. Too bad since it was the end of the trilogy. Would have been nice had they taken it a little more seriously

But how many people beside us obsessive geeks would notice that about the vest? All the films reused stuff, you can see the Tantive IV wall panes reused on the SD Bridge in ESB, and other stuff, etc.

I think prune-face was just another excuse for an action figure really.

Lets talk about killing off han solo.

I've always found this to be a cheap shot at Lucas.

Were all the aliens in the cantina just an excuse? Were the ugnauts or Lando's copilot just excuses?

We complan that all the shuttles in ROTJ were the same, but if they were different were they just excuses to sell another vehicle?

Frankly I wish there were MORE superfluous aliens in ROTJ.

Yeah, i feel the same way.....seems that these movies always crammed most of their aliens into the same third of the movie, just to show you they exist, then its just humans for the rest of the show. ANH has aliens in its first 1/3, ESB the last 1/3, and Jedi the first 1/3 again, though this one has a few species that trickle into the rest of the film (though i dont think that ewoks should count ;)

The mask is pretty awful though.

Prune Face even as a background character looks like something out of The Monster Club.

Growing up, I thought the Empire/Rebellion conflict was a human thing, and it was a human Empire.

The aliens on Mos Eisly I assumed were there for business, since it was a port town, and the aliens on Cloud City were there because Cloud City wasn't in the Empire. Was never clear why the Admiral Ackbars were there in ROTJ.

It was the EU and the PT that really defined that it was a galactic empire over everyone.

hmm, maybe its all an excuse for an action figure... point being as fore-mentioned that this guy is a cheap background addition, who just sort of looks a bit rubbish and either hovers so far in the distance or disappears entirely. I'm all for additional aliens, especially as rebel pilots and troopers (assuming that the rebels on yavin and hoth were just one arm of the rebellion). aliens in the cantina and jabbas palace was more of a play on how exotic and unusual the environment was i assumed. it would certainly seem alot less exciting if aliens were just everywhere.

enstead of adding aliens though, really need to look at adding all those sideburns that we lost after ANH.

Sidees and Mullets were specifically put into the PT and they looked utter bobbins, as did the Lego hair cuts of ROTJ :

Grey Brick

What about Anakin's shaggy haircut in ROTS? Sideburns and shaggy hair were not prevelant in the 1950s, but were in the 70s. Kind of like in prequels they weren't common, like in the OT they were. Hairstyles has nothing to do with technology, though.

I thought it would make sense to link this thread into here because it seems the sort of thing that maybe interest to people following here and it would be a shame to have it wander off and do it's own thing.

B-Wings in ROTJ, editing epiphany

Wow, never even noticed these guys before....

...would be nice to see more of them.

I'd also love to see some ships (especially B-wings) taking off from the establishing shot of Home 1's hangar. They would be constantly flying fighter escorts for the fleet...so it would make some sense. I'm also curious to know if Ady plans on making his B-wing's rotate around their cockpits or not (I'd imagine this would be rather difficult to acheive)
