Day Of The Dead films can be confusing...
I like the original three George Romero flicks (Night of the Living, Dawn of, and Day of), and I actually kind of enjoyed the much more recent Land of Dead, though it is much more inline with the modern campy zombie film genre (when did it become a rule that you can't make a serious zombie movie?) Unfortunately Romero's last two of the Dead films have for some reason really focused on the camp aspect and were absolutely awful.
Zack Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead may very well be my favorite zombie movie aside from the original Night of the Living Dead. I've actually still yet to get around to seeing Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead, though I'd like to.
Though the 3D remakes of Night of the Living Dead or John Russo(co-creator of the original)'s 30th anniversary cut have never held any interest to me, nor have John Russo's independent series of sequels, or the Italian sequels to Dawn of the Dead, or any of the various other non-official sequels.
Crazy how much baggage a franchise can acquire when you allow the original to fall into the public domain.
