Yes, I had that reaction just the other day. By someone I gave a copy of Revisited too. I told him then that I strongly dislike the changes in the prequels. He told me his 2 favourite SE changes were the new Palpatine dialogue in ESB and Hayden in RotJ. He tried the "good man that was Anakin died..." bit on me, but I had none of it.
The fact that anyone feels compelled to use this argument shows how ham-fisted Lucas' revisionism truly is. ROTJ as a film (and as the conclusion to the SW trilogy) hinges on the question of whether or not such an assertion could be true. Luke insists, "There is still good in him," and Obi-Wan, echoing the sentiments of every Lucas apologist out there, disagrees: "He's more machine now than man, twisted and evil." Of course, by the end of the movie we find out that Luke was right after all, and even Obi-Wan with all of his ascended wisdom couldn't see it. "You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister...you were right." The new "Saga" approach totally undermines this, which is a shame since it's fundamental to ROTJ's narrative.
Furthermore, the fact that everyone and his grandma loathes, despises, and hates Hayden Christen's version of Anakin kinda mitigates against the "good man" premise necessary for such an argument to work in the first place...
