SilverWook, thanks for the comment on Space:1999. I'm a huge fan myself, and I know the show has been very fortunate to have such a devoted fan base. I was certainly very amazed at the quality of the restoration work that was done on the Blu-Rays, and that restoration was done several years ago by the BBC.
There's just no excuse for these Star Wars films to look anything less than spectacular on Blu-ray. But between the fact that it's special editions only, and on top of that the awful color that we will most likely be getting, I just can't get excited about this.
Blade Runner got 4 versions for crying out loud! Including an amazing workprint version. Even E.T. got both versions released on DVD. Why are Star Wars fans consistently left behind? I consider my collection of fan-made Star Wars discs vastly superior to anything listed in the extras. The Editdroid set, Movealong's incredible vinyl "Story of Star Wars" discs, Building Empire, etc. - these are the kind of things that Star Wars fans desire. Not a 90-minute documentary on "cosplay".
