That is not consistent with the rest of the saga where the dialogue (as far as I can remember) places a distinction between the loss of the shields and physical damage.

On a related note, hopefully Ady will build a section of Death Star surface for use in ROTJ:R and use a chunk of it to replace the unconvincing 'impact with the city of plastic cartons and tubs' that has marred my viewing pleasure since about the third viewing of the film (it takes a while for a seven year old to notice these things).

Almost all of the surface footage is amazing even to this day but that one shot (which would be fine in Blake's 7 or mid-eighties Doctor Who) is one thing I am surprised has yet to get a make over.

My next door neighbour's son has just got into Star Wars so I passed a copy of the PAL version over the fence.

His dad's (best neighbour in the world ever) eyes lit up like a small child too when I discussed some of the changes and how long Ady has been working on them so hopefully the good news continues to be spread.

When ANH "Revisted" becomes "Re-revisited," a change that I think could be valuable in tying things together between trilogies would be relatively minor in its simplicity, but could have significant impact.  As Qui-Gon was the first Jedi to learn how to communicate with the living after becoming one with the force, and even yells at Anakin while he slaughters the Tusken Raiders, I thought it might be valuable to include one or two points where the older Obi-Wan ponders, then hears the voice of Qui-Gon guiding his decision-making.  You could easily gather Liam Neeson's dialogue from other films, such as Ras Al-Ghul telling Bruce Wayne that "You were my greatest student," or other potentially useful lines.  This could help smoothe out the confusion that also arose for so many when they thought Yoda was Obi-Wan's instructor, then learned of Qui-Gon.  Places where this could potentially be useful might include his reflection on once being called "Obi-Wan" instead of Ben, his pauses and pondering on Tatooine after viewing Leia's hologram, as he begins his hunt for the tractor beam terminal on the Death Star, and just as he is about to face Vader.  Just a thought for you to get to when you are 86 and in a straight jacket, able to finally return to working on this edit.

That's fine if he has no interest in including PT elements.  However, he already has done so, as Obi-Wan lights his lightsaber first (and Adywan admitted that was because he lit first in Ep. III), and then the duel uses the PT music.  I know he is trying to preserve as much of George Lucas's original intent as possible, simply making improvements and not wanting to change the story.  However as I know he will ultimately be working on all three episodes of "prequel garbage," trying to improve upon them drastically and integrate them better into the OT, I thought this slight change could help with such an integration.  He doesn't like the idea.  That's fine.  It was just an idea that crossed my mind.  And I happen to like the prequels and would love to see how he does better integrate the two trilogies.

Music is one thing (and not everyone (myself included) liked the inclusion of it). A trend with lightsaber fights is another.....its still using all the OT footage. PT footage would not splice well with the OT and definitely goes beyond what I think Ady is willing to change. I think the references he's made to the PT have been so light up till now.....but the minute he even touches on it you've got a whole crowd of people begging to see JarJar in the OT. As this is a forum you're all very entitled to make suggestions or voice your ideas, but I thought he made his stance pretty clear just by what he did and didn't do in ANH:R

Well, I certainly respect his wishes and will not try to further sway him.  I was just brainstorming, and after reading others' comments, I can definitely see how out of place the footage would be.  Like I said in the other thread, I don't mind the PT as much and was thinking of how he could possibly do what he stated he would try to do.  Who knows?  I guess we'll have to wait for 20 years and see if he is able to turn the PT into something more people will enjoy :)

I agree 100%..this too has also bugged me to no end, even when I was watching it when I was younger. No matter how many times I watch it that scene arrangement has always seemed out of place. I am by no means as adept as Adywan, but for my version of that scene I edited that clip to better match what he was saying and the action, I also added the whelmer (SP) scream right before he hits just for sh*ts and giggles. See now I want to find that clip.

Ady any info about rearranging that scene or is it going to be left as is? Either way Im still gonna watch the Re-revisited when your done with it. By the way, my kid's ranging from 6 years old to 14 love your Star Wars Revisited edit. We've packed away the Lucas versions (2004...ugh) and now its your version that's on our DVD shelf.

I went to a 501st gathering at a Cure for Cancer event and I was asking if any of them had seen the Revisited version and what they thought about it, some said they cant comment but one trooper took off his helmet and inside right next to the right ear peice was a small (and I mean small) sticker that said Revisited, I thought that was great, he didnt say anything but I got the meaning behind it. I dont understand what Lucas problem is (if its him telling the 501st not to comment or if its just certain individuals) but he should take it as a huge compliment for what Adywan has done to further peoples interest or rekindle interest in the Star Wars brand.

Just heard you're planning on releasing ANH:revisited HD after Jedi, and just read your list of planned changes. Fantastic news, and I love the list of changes. There were only a very few things I wasn't completely fond of in ANH:R, and your HD version seems to address those (electric needle, final shot of Tarkin, Threepio's reaction) and I love the idea of the choice of music or no music during the lightsaber duel. I know it's several years away, but I'm glad to hear you've decided to revisit it again in HD.
