I don't own a BR player at the current time (yes, I am one of those people lol) and I have no plans to buy one anytime soon.  If Luca$ would have done this right, I would have bought a BR player just for this.  However, he did not...and nothing about that surprises me at all!  From a business sense, I think he is terrible because he keeps putting out shoddy products and finding weird ways to justify it.  If he were an auto manufacturer (for example), he would have probably indirectly killed dozens of families by now, been sued 10 times over and forced out of business.

SW, like most of us here, has been a very important part of my life for decades now.  I won't get into the whole story, but I had a really rough time growing up and the SW movies were an escape for me...I also have very fond memories of bonding over SW with people who have since passed away.  So when people say they are "just movies", well, to some of us they are not because of all of the nostalgia we have attached to them.  From a more artistic point of view, SW was groundbreaking for its time and was one of the greatest achievements of human culture...whether you like it or not, you cannot deny its impact on the world.

Now let's take us to today.  I don't own the '04 set, I don't own the GOUT, and I have purchased NOTHING SW related in the last 10 or so years and I will continue with this until I see what I want and like.  Luca$ has every right to do what he wants with his product, and that is the perks of owning your work.  For every 1 of me, there are probably 5 more who don't mind the changes or are too young to know the back story and the OT (this second point is extremely sad to me, but a whole other in-depth discussion for another time).

I had a theory once TPM hit, and with each passing year, I think I may be right:  the original SW films were a total fluke due to the "perfect storm" of events and circumstances, and that total fluke ended up producing amazing and memorable films.  I say this because it is painfully obvious to me that Luca$ does not know what he is doing, and makes it all up when he goes along.  This is what happens when you have way too much money, way too much time on your hands, and people who will continue to tout your greatness while making excuses for you, and who will continue to buy your inferior, corner-cutting products no matter what...
