That's uncalled for.  Frink's GIFs are all about the action or facial expression contained therein, and depict people from a wide range of racial groups, as even a cursory glance at Frink's GIF thread might be expected to reveal.  If you don't like Frink's tendency to go off topic, then that's fair enough, but the above smacks of mudslinging.

It wasn't about his tendency to go off topic, it was the ridiculousness of his complaining that this thread was off topic. He just kind of surprised me, he was the last person I expected to see demanding that if we are not going to keep the discussion in this thread on topic then we need to let the thread die.

The picture he posted in this thread was a caricature of a racial stereotype, calling something what it is is mudslinging now? I wasn't saying I was offended by it or asking him not to post it, I was just suggesting if this thread is bothering him, his time might be more enjoyably spent posting pictures in Off-Topic rather than asking people not to post things he doesn't find personally interesting.

Parking taking Frink's posts too seriously and misrepresenting his depiction of racial groups and shoveling a tonne of coins into the meter.

Double dipping is pretty much a given with the 3D versions coming out so will future sets just include trailers for the latest Star Wars games and an explanation of the processes used in making the theatrical 3D release or will we get any form of OOT?

Read that sentence multiple times, and I am still pretty sure it doesn't actually make sense.

I don't think I took his posts too seriously, his defense of his comments shows he intended them seriously. And I fail to see how calling this

image a racial stereotype is "misrepresenting". It is a racial stereotype, plain and simple. I wasn't complaining about that it, calling him out, or saying he shouldn't post them. I just labeled it what it is and now at least two of you are freaking out over it.

This thread is about the quality of audio and video in Criterion transfers, it would be nice if we could get back to that. ;)

I saw this at The Digital Bits and just had to post:

In announcement news today, Shout! Factory has finally revealed that the Battle Beyond the Stars: 30th Anniversary Special Edition will street on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/12 (SRP $26.97 and $19.93). Both will include new transfers from the original internegative.

Too bad Lucas can't afford to make a new transfer of Star Wars.

This deserves to be quoted again.

Parking...Etc :-P

What do people think future re-issues will be like?

Will they even happen?

Will optical disc media last long enough to justify a double dip blu-ray?

There were a number of repackaged VHS releases during the PT era and a few repackaging attempts of the DVDs.

Personally I'm detecting a bit of an apathy wave beyond these forums and their mirror image on TFN and the official Facespace page.

If double dip did happen I get the feeling that very few people would give a monkey's any how.

Star Wars and blu-ray?

The future?

It's not a set up for faux celebrity quotes, cryptic messages or an semi-obscure cultural reference.

Just for the sake of beating a dead horse, I have no idea what race this guy is supposed to be. Also, I wonder if his armpit skin enables flight.

And again. Roger Corman's been doing this with a lot of his stuff. ROGER CORMAN. The king of cheapness.

He was also the guy that almost gave us back The Wicker Man (the real one) after the bulk of the original cut materials were chucked away (possibly buried in cement in a fly over but that may be a myth) by evil studio exec types who wanted the film to just vanish and be forgotten.

And when the extended (not quite complete) cut of that film was released the mangled theatrical cut was also in the set.

Asian guy with broken English, it is a stereotype in my book; but it sounds like I am in the minority. Doesn't really matter.

Sooo... Star Wars on Blu-Ray, eh? I don't know about you guys, but I am in a continual state of urinating myself with excitement! This is going to be so totally wizard!

"Go post some fist pumps or caricatures that make fun of racial stereotypes in some of your Off-Topic threads" sounded like you were speaking in general terms rather than about one image to me, but I suppose I'll take your word for it.  (It also certainly comes across as a little more aggressive than a simple suggestion that he might be happier posting in off topic.)  It sounded like you were bringing it up simply to bolster your first point, which is why it seemed like mudslinging to me, but I apologize if this really wasn't your motivation.  It just seems strange that someone who knows Frink would think his motivation was anything other than poking fun at the representation of the Jar Jar character in the film itself.

Probably not until after all the 3D theatrical releases, I'd imagine they'll be pretty busy with this for the time being.  So if you really do want blu-ray quality Star Wars I'd get the set.  Personally, I'll wait and get it used at some point, even though it is terrible.  At least that way LFL won't get any money, just the poor schmuck who paid full price in Sept.

LOL!

About BD re-releases, I don't think there will be any, aside from minor packaging differences.  There will probably be a new 3D release in the future, but Lucas takes his time, so it might not be on BD.

If it has all or most of the quality control problems of 2004, I'd at least say you've been ripped off.

If he follows the previous DVD release pattern, there will be a set in 2013 that includes the OOT in SD DVD quality.
