Sorry, couldn't help myself, all this whining is just to funny.

Now I've seen a higher res version of the OT cover I have to agree it looks awful - pity I thought it showed promise in the smaller pic. Yet another quickly photoshop'd cut and paste job (Jesus I am getting tired of cheap-ass looking bluray artwork these days!), instead of either using the original iconic film posters, or getting someone to do a decent painting for the cover.

Very cheap looking alas :(

All I am saying zombie, is that MOST here already set themselves up for "EPIC FAIL" to begin with, so why is all this so shocking now? release after release you guys are not happy with, so WHY should now be any different? and I am not telling anyone to stop the whining and complaining LOL, I find it very funny, and some of the people doing it is just as funny, but I will keep those comments to myself, I don't want to single peeps out.

So keep going by all means, I am just having some fun at that expense is all.

LOL, there are a lot of people that are going to need some of these,

Why would I need this? There's not one thing worth masturbating to in this whole damn set!

Well, this is biggest home video news since 2006 and it was just announced this morning, you can't expect people to not comment on it. By next week, people will forget about it.

And if you look, some actually think what I posted is funny, and that is precisely what it is supposed to be, and as I said, I am surprised Frink didn't do something like this first.

and for he record, I am going to buy it, I have the Saga Set on pre-order, I have all my projects for to OT, so I am not worried, I have myself covered.

I was expecting Erica to say this first...

I just read the past four pages to figure out what happened, when all I needed to do was read this post.  Win.

1st let me say that the cover art looks awful! I would have actually preferred the original promotional pics (you know the ones with text on simple black background. One thing I always loved about STAR WARS was the awesome cover art of the various home video releases, but the last great one was the 97SE and it all went down hill from there and it doesn't seem to have changed here :-(

2nd, it's shameful that once again there is zero information about the transfers.

3rd, the lack of the DVD docs doesn't surprise me. Think about it, there's still millions of the 2004 DVD sets on the shelfs, they need to sell those too :-/

4th, the only thing that seems interesting to me are the matte paintings but I bet they will only be the special edition CG ones anyway :-(

I like that Bespin is on Tatooine and there is a Taun Taun on the Death Star.

Ridiculous!

Looking at the covers again, I think it was a neat idea (having a series of smaller images make up a larger one), but yeah, way too busy.  The image fails to draw my eye to any one place.

On second thought, maybe that's exactly what Lucas wanted.  In a sense, the covers are exactly a reflection of what we see in the PT (lots going on, no real focus).

You may just need to recycle these covers for your edit Frink :)

Eh, the cover's ok. If they were going for the paint-y look, wish they used:

Other than that I have nothing to add to this converstion.

I stand corrected -- that is infinitely more ridiculous.  I had forgotten you had Spock in there :)

BTW, the Post-It is a nice touch.

Oh the irony of the OT:SE cover drowning in a cyan wash.

I'm with DJ, the response here is a bit over the top.  Some of the artwork isn't bad (the construction of Vader's mask out of OT scenes is actually clever), and the set contains a few minor new things. That's exactly what we were expecting, right?  I'm still not going to buy it, but I'm not going to moan about it either. The work going on here is more interesting than what is coming out of LFL, anyways.

Thought I'd chime in. The Complete Saga box is fantastic, but the OT one is a little busy. Would be awesome if it was just Vader to be honest, but oh well.

edit: Anyone care to compare the runtime on the documentaries to previous releases? It seems trimmed down to me, but I could be imagining it. I'll be damned if they don't take out some of George's comments about Luke/Leia/Han being "anyone's guess."

This release has been given the Solo "thumbs-up".  At least one person likes it.
