Nothing to see here.

Back to work on preserving the OOT, people.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

It's been a long time since I posted, but I wanted to chime in:

Boxart is quite epic. Interesting choice for the front cover of the set. Not what I imagined it would look like.

Extras are underwhelming. I've seen fan wishlists that read better than this. Maybe it's just because I'm jaded from trading preservations over the years, but I have most of the listed content they show here. I'm interested in Disc 8 - other than that, there's not much point. I'll probably rent a copy from a local store and just burn a duplicate - that's all I really care to watch, anyway.

So... ESB Revisited is looking pretty good so far, eh?

The OT set art is better, but it's time for the custom cover artists to get busy.

This is so damn stupid. Shitty SE versions only, mostly identical special features and AWFUL cover art. There is nothing to like except the deleted scenes (which will probably disappoint), yet people will still buy it in droves.

Site's actually up now.

"Share to Reveal"? Wakefield Track and Field?! To reveal more than 20 seconds of previously-released images in a low-res video?!

Ridiculous isnt it - all that countdown for a few seconds of an image, that you then have to share to see more. THAT was the big deal??! Lucasfilm and/or 20th Century should be ashamed of this media 'event'.

+1

Ridiculous and pathetic

It sort of looks like those pamphlets the jehovah's witnesses hand out.

Hmmm, there seems to be a helluva lot of 'blue' used on that OT cover...

Is that a clue to the transfers?

And please tell me that 'outer' boxart is just a *fake* mock-up...  That's just plain awful as far as I'm concerned, if real.  Thanks to those who took the time to post the details by the way, as I wouldn't have known at this point if I'd had to rely on the actual 'countdown' site just now.  After all that, what a farce, lol.

Few thoughts:

1) VERY surprised there is no definitive making-of docs here. Fans always said, wait for the super-duper boxset and you'll have the ultimate behind-the-scenes type of stuff. No such luck. It looks like some of the stuff from the previous DVDs is being carried over but the best things, the full-length docs, are being left out. I realize the OT only has limited footage to work with but there was a full-time camera crew on the prequels.

2) Impressed that the classic docs are being put on here. Nothing new for us, but a lot of people haven't seen them. Unfortunately, they are 1970s and 1980s video masters, and not likely to look much better than what was on the LDs. Not much you can do about that. Maybe the footage will be good replacement candidates for the GOUT but I doubt it. Too bad the best one--SW to Jedi--is left out.

3)The new docs are absolute crap. 90 minutes on the 501st??? Are you fucking kidding?? Okay, I know they are an interesting group and do good work. Maybe a 45 minute or a 60 minute piece. But 90 minutes of the disc taken up with this? It feels like they are just promoting them because they are loyal customers because no offence to them, but a lot of them tend to be the most brainwashed of all the SW fans and will spend money on anything with the SW label. The other docs are lame too. There's so much that could have gone on here. That "Mythology of SW" would have been a good candidate if you want a prequel-intensive post-saga piece. Disappointing is an understatement.

4) No new prequel docs. In fact the 9th disc is 100% OT from the looks of it. They are really trying hard to lure us to the disc!

The audio track from archival interviews sounds interesting, as does the extra OT interviews and of course deleted scenes. But otherwise--nothing new, and nothing worth seeing. The PT DVDs are still better for supplements, maybe even the OT DVD boxset. The deleted OT scenes will be the first thing to go up on the internet when this comes out. Download them and save your money. I guess we won't even know if the collars are fixxed until a few days before this actually comes out. And, to be honest, I don't really care.

The original making of docs were on 16mm film - probably too much to expect Lucasfilm (with their OT track record!) to transfer these from scratch, rather than take them from existing (if they still exist) telecines of them. Would be nice to see them in their best possible light however. If that was the case, AND they'd included From Star Wars to Jedi I would seriously consider pre-ordering the Saga set.

As it stands, I have to say I LOVE the artwork for the OT bluray set (hey, credit where credit is due and all that). Sort of retro and similar to some of the original concept artwork for Star Wars in feel. I would actually be happy to pre-order the OT set, IF all the video & audio problems have been sorted out finally, AND the deleted scenes disc includes the original bits chopped out or changed in the SEs...

I'm usually quite the pessimist, but I have the strangest feeling these scenes will be on the extras disc.....

That's actually the only thing there that might be cool, only because it's probably the last video interview Kersh gave.

It is pretty bad that I have zero interest in this, yet every time I think about ESB: Revisited I feel excited and can't wait for its release date.

The SW fans truly are split into two categories, and since only one of those are being officially catered to, the other one has to make its own releases and documentaries and books to keeps itself appeased. Between Jambe Davar, Adywan, and Micheal Kaminski the SW Underground is the place to be.

Kind of disappointing realizing that the best to come from official sources has been here since 1993. I am glad 2006 brought us nice little pressed DVD versions of what we've had since '93, but so far that is the last official release of anything I found personally valuable and worth paying for... and even then I waiting a couple of years and bought cheap used copies of them.

From the official facebook page. The "conversation with the masters" promo. Notice anything? EPIC FAIL. An indication of how poor these sets are going to be ? ;)

Is this legit??!? Surely not with a typo like that???

Did I get that right... no "Empire of Dreams" Documentary??

If this is the case, I am considering cancelling my pre-order for the first time...

I was prepared to only get SE versions, but I at least expected everything from all the DVDs plus more... definitely a prequel doc and "From SW to Jedi".

What's wrong with those people... i'm okay with them wanting my money, but they could at least give me something in return, especially things ALREADY PRODUCED!!

LOL, there are a lot of people that are going to need some of these,

or maybe this,

Sorry, couldn't help myself, all this whining is just to funny, especially since most of you had yourselves set up for "Epic Fail" anyways LOL, I am actually surprised Frink didn't post something like this first.
