You probably need to clear your cache. In Firefox, go to "history" > "clear recent history" > select "cache" > "clear now"
Changing your avatar probably did work, you just couldn't see that it did yet. That should fix things.
*edit: I just cleared my own cache, and I can see that your avatar is indeed changed. And I have to say, I like it ;-)
