And I'm pretty sure the matte lines must have been there in the cinema, it's just that people wouldn't notice them, because they weren't looking for them. I remember reading a review of the 97SE, where the guy complained about them not fixing the Rancor matte lines after he saw the SE in the cinema.
I'm just jumping in here, but the matte lines were there in 97. It's an 04 fix, one of the ones that I thought was needed and disappointed they didn't fix in 97.

Well, yeah I also thought it was an appropriate fix for a Special Edition, where they fixed matte lines in shots that didn't really need it and then didn't fix them in a scene like this, which really needed it. I'm just saying that such a fix has no place in the original.

I had the 97SE on VHS, and I'm pretty sure the tapes included a featurette on how they changed things, including fixing the matte lines for the snowspeeder battle and the Rancor.

No, I have these 97 tapes with the "making of SE" featurettes and I remember them very well, because I used to watch them all the time as a kid. They did speak about fixing the matte lines on the snowspeeders. But they only spoke about the matte lines on the Rancor to show and explain what the matte lines were, because they were so clearly visible in those shots.

Yes, to Harmy you listen. Remember Frink, we were KIDS when the SE came out and watched them all the time. ;-)

I'd love to see those again, as I'm pretty sure they made a big deal out of Luke flying under the walker and not being able to see through the cockpit anymore when you most certainly still can...

I grew up on those tapes! Those little introductory featurettes are part of the movies for me. I never watched the SE in theatres either. My only experience with the OT growing up were those SE VHSs.

When I bought the DVDs it was so jarring to watch the movies without those featurettes in front and without that big booming voice saying "Sit back and enjoy George Lucas' definitive version of _________: Special Edition"

I remember the ESB featurette highlighting the Hoth speeder mattes and transparencies.

Ir's awesome! Thank you very much. I hated the blue tint and the new Anakin, etc.

I am amazed at how awesome the original special effects were.

I watched the DVD9 version till the rebels arrive at Endor.

Will continue soon.

I can´t speak in technical terms but this is a great achievement.

I was so happy to see Lapti Nek restored properly.

It´s kinda strange but still a billion times better than the god-awful Jedi Rocks and personally I always liked that funky bassline :-)

I have to re-check but the only two glitches I found so far are

.) In the opening sequence when the shuttle moves away from the Star Destroyer the picture halted twice for a split second

.)Establishing shot of Sail Barge and the already mentioned shot with Jabba & Leia on said vehicle have a massive drop in picture quality

As already mentioned I´ll have to recheck the first glitch + I´ll send exact time signatures

Thanks Harmy !

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely decided not to make another version of this though, because while I believe that it being a true(well almost) theatrical cut, it's got its place amongst the preservations, I personally prefer my PDE HD version of Jedi.

And the new "despecialized" HD version I'm working on will be closer to a reconstruction then the PDE and in some ways it should also be an improvement over this SD reconstruction but there are some things that will still be closer to the original in this SD one, because for example I'll have to slightly recut the ending celebration for the HD version, like I did in the PDE (although hopefully with some continuity errors fixed) because I don't want to use GOUT for it, which is something I could do in this SD project.

And I'm not quite sure what I'll do about that sail barge shot yet, because it's not only recomposited but also shortened in the SE but like you said, the quality of that shot isn't exactly aces in the GOUT.
