Lucas and his army of loyal jihadists are the only people who don't realize this.

Lucas and his followers are starting a religious war?

The absolute minimum I'd want to see fixed is the lightsabers in all 3 films. Especially Luke's green saber in ANH and the broken ones in Jedi.

Well some people do consider "Jedi" to be their religion...

I facepalm'd when I saw that on the national census here in the UK. Gorram it, it was so frakkin dumb.

I thought that on the census it was just a joke but I just saw a documentary about the phenomenon in my country and there are people who are 100% serious about it, all the prequel crap and all. That is totally mental (well, I hope I'm not offending anyone's religious beliefs ;-) )

But that's people who pretend to be Jedis; not people who unconditionally accept the PT as the greatest films that rival the Godfather or Citizen Kane.

Anyways, what's the point anymore? We shouldn't be forced to make bootlegs of movies that should be readily available and not tacked on as some "bonus feature" like the GOUT. That is one of the biggest indignities for the OT right there. Think of all the time we are wasting doing the job LFL won't make in restoring these movies.

The consensus on the BDs when they come out in September is that they will be messed up in some degree and really cater to no one. It might as well not exist.

LOL, where is the proof of this?

Well, based on what we have heard from LFL, they will just reuse the master they used for the 04 dvds and upscale it to 1080p. It is not going to transferred from actual film elements like most BDs, just reused masters. The same thing happened with the GOUT- they reused the 93 master. So why bother releasing this if it is going to be a half-assed job? But of course it is SW, its going to make millions in its first day, so of course it will be released. But based on discussion on this thread, its going to be a horrible product.

Well, as much as I don't expect the blu-rays to be very good, I must say you or no one else here can possibly know that yet. They can be good just as well as bad, there is no proof either way. One thing's for sure though, there will be no OOT, so that will make the set shite no matter what the transfer will be like.

EDIT: And they definitely won't be upscaling the DVD masters, that would be ridiculous, the masters are already 1080p and were downscaled for the DVDs. What do you think the current HDTV versions came from?

It's driving me crazy that I can't find ken's original quote on this for the LOL Archive.  Anyone who remembers and can point me in the right direction will have a special place in my heart for as long as it takes me to forget who it was who did it.

The search function is one of the few things that really suck about this forum. I searched "colars" and it says 0 results were found, although I'm staring at the word colars written in the last two posts right now and it has definitely been used countless times before.

That, and there's no way to keep track of your post history.

...

Just putting that out there, for whomever it may concern ...

OT aside, I think many of the technical issues that existed on the DVDs were likely caused by Lucas not giving them his full attention while he was still in production on Episode III.  I mean, how else could we account for Luke's green lightsaber in A New Hope.  The transfers were made from the 1997 special edition prints so the additional alterations made aren't set in stone.  He didn't go back cut the newer Jabba model into the prints, he added them afterwards, which means these alterations can still be tweaked even if he's not doing a brand new transfer.

search engine: "site:originaltrilogy.com +whatever" works great.

The 'colars' spelling is something you all made up.  Ken created:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Will-the-color-of-the-star-wars-films-episodes-4-6-be-fixed-for-the-blu-ray-release/topic/12024/

It seems Akwat Kbrana is the starter of the 'colars' thing:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic-print.cfm/Star-Wars-Frames/topic/12246/page/1/

The 'fixed' thing was originally focused on the audio, then shifted to colors.

Here's some quotes from that audio round:

Aw carp, that just means no one quoted him in time. :-(

No, he had a habit of going back and editing his posts. He did indeed say "colars", but i think it was in another thread. he also said exactly the same thing on another forum, then edited it after it was pointed out.

That is true.  One of the earlier occurances of edit 'colors will be fixed' by him was when he was pimping the fake blu-ray cap.

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-coming-to-Blu-Ray/post/459732/

If no one was pointing it out then, then the theory that the original occurance happened in another forum, makes sense.

(the waybackmachine stopped archiving OT.com in 2009...)  Frink you could ask Jay if edits are saved like wiki-edits.

I'm pretty sure they aren't, and more importantly I'm pretty sure Jay doesn't care.  It's not really a big deal.
