Normally I'd agree with you, but Joss has written for Marvel for years, and has been an Avengers fan all his life. Plus, it's really close to his usual creative style (big, strange families), and Marvel has given him a lot of control over the project (he even got to rework the script to his liking!).

Yes, I'd love to see him do something entirely new and original, but I think this is the project to finally propel him from huge nerd fame to huge fame, and then he can be as creative as he wants to be.
