My ex loved that film too.

My ex who had the nerve to run off with £10.000 of my money after setting up dozens of credit cards in my name and running up almost as much on them.

It was amusing to watch American Psycho and discover that he not only had the same taste in music but also the same Global knife set as Patrick Bateman.

But as the Abraham Lincoln homunculus used to say,"Su suss sussudio".

Sex and the City. Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either - it was at someone's party. What's worse is that... I enjoyed it. HELP!
I saw SatC2 this week. Not that big of a secret since I reviewed it on my blog. The first movie, while giving everyone their happily ever afters, was instantly forgettable. The sequel was just bad.

Last movie watched was Burlesque. Also bad, but I'll be writing a review of it and anything else I watch. Tired of being lazy about my blog.

Easy A.

Better than expected.  Never would have even bothered if it wasn't for this forum.

Just watched 'Enemy Mine'. Had never heard of this movie until today. It was great.

Maybe you never heard of it, because it's a german movie, although its language is english.

Well, I am not sure you can say it is a "German movie"... It was made by an American studio, featured a mostly American cast, began with a British director who was fired for going over budget and replaced by a famous German director who decided to move filming to Germany. So, while ultimately it was filmed in Germany and directed by a German, I am not sure that really makes it a German film.

Peter Jackson is from New Zealand and The Lord of the Rings films were filmed in New Zealand, but would we really call them New Zealand films?

The Italian Job

The plot wasn't as clever as the remake, but the mini cooper chase was a joy to watch.  And Michael Caine is great in everything.  Fun movie.

Sometimes you should grant us something, too... ;)

But you're right. imdb says also USA.
But the movie failed at the boxoffice and maybe that's the reaspn almost nobody knows it. But I really like it. It's more of a dialogue movie than an action movie.

I'm really hoping, that the long announced Sequel (to the remake) will be done anytime soon.

The unseen version of Enemy Mine was mostly filmed (and almost finished) on location in Iceland.

I've always wanted to see the footage as the creature makeup was amazing by all accounts and Iceland does have some genuinely alien landscapes.

Mutants.

French "zombie" film.  First half was really very cool.  But once other people besides the husband and wife started showing up, it kind of went to shit.

The Bucket List.

It shifts gears a little and is too predictable, but it's got a lot of Morgan Freeman Narration - what more could you want?

I don't mean to be dense (it just comes naturally).  I get the running off with tons of money and leaving you with an equal amount of dept part.

However, are you also saying that since he was so similar to the film character it proves you had said goodbye to and (fortunately) dodged a psycho?

Because I gotta tell you man, if someone jumped ship with that much of my dough then left me thousands in dept for things I didn't own, being reminded of it would never be amusing.

*edit*

I've never seen American Psycho, but being a fan of Bale and seeing what he can do with out of the ordinary characters, I may need to remedy that.

Well nobody is perfect, nobody is perfectly bad, there was a lot of good and there was a lot of bad that only came out after the event.

It was a dark time and messy time but looking back at it with humour puts a bit of perspective on it.

American Psycho the film is worth a watch, it's certainly more palatable than the novel which I wouldn't recommend to anyone (it's well written but it really gets under your skin in a nasty, nasty way).

The film is evocative of the time and the toned down (though still appropriately unpleasant) violence is balanced out by dark humour.

That's probably the healthier way to deal with it and move on. Stress and anger are killers.

I'll keep a look out on cable for it, but truthfully I'm not a fan of dark & violent films.  Maybe that's why I passed on it originally.

It's more implied than anything, there are a few scenes which are a bit on the raw side but nothing that you wouldn't see in any series like Dexter to be honest.

I was grateful for that because a straight adaptation of the book would be unbearable and it allowed the satirical aspects of the book to become the central focus of the film.

I don't know if it's the same for you but I find as I get older my tolerance for pointless violence in films and television has diminished.

I wouldn't blink an eye at some of the excesses of exploitation cinema when I was in my teens and twenties but now I need a bit more justification for something like that.

I was fuming after seeing Wolf Creek for example and Rob Zombie films... never again.

That's it exactly.  Maybe it's the passage of time, or that as you get older, life is tough enough as it is. Maybe it's because I'm not an angst-ridden 19-year-old anymore.  I don't really have a deep explanation. I just know I don't care to see bad when I'm trying to wind down from the stresses of the day.

War movies, Batman, that sort of thing I'm fine with.  There was a film a few years ago with Naomi Watts as part of a family taken hostage and brutalized by two criminals.  For the life of me, I can't imagine someone desiring to watch two hours of something that horrible. Its appeal is completely lost on me.

Probably the best Joel Schumacher film of all time.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

Stress and anger are killers.

Plus, they lead to the dark side.

I watched Shutter Island again last night.
SPOILERS::

My cousin was convinced that DiCaprio's character actually was a cop, and everyone on the island actually was setting him up to look crazy, even though he wasn't.  I tried to explain to him that everything that happens at the end of the movie is truthful, and that he really was Andrew Laeddis, but he refused to believe me!  After I convinced him to watch it again, he finally gave in a little, but still insisted that his version could work just as well.     *sigh*

Sidenote: Watching it after not having seen it for a while was very enjoyable, you really pick up on a lot of intricacies the Scorsese worked into the film.  Awesome movie.
