I don't watch broadcast television. And even though I am an American myself, I have a really hard time getting my head around American comedy so I rarely ever bother with it.

The fact that I haven't had cable or even an antenna hooked up to a TV for a good ten years now ought to explain a lot.

Thursday night on NBC.  Community, The Office, Parks & Recreation, and 30 Rock.

I love the fact that I have only ever heard of one of those shows!

Wouldn't be surprised if you weren't kidding, most people think that. The fact is, I can't stand TV in the slightest. The surest way to drive me mad or the quickest way to torture me into betraying someone would be to set me in front of a TV. I am not kidding or exaggerating when I say I'd rather be water boarded. Far, far less cruel and unusual.

When my older sister first discovered I didn't even so much as own a TV (do now for the Xbox, but I didn't play games back then), she made it a point to give me the warning that people without a TVs are usually more than just a little weird. So it goes. In an attempt to seem slightly more normal, I once got my hands on a TV stand and put an aquarium on it then angled all my furniture at it. Ironically, years later I was given a PS2 so I bought a TV and placed it on an aquarium stand (because it was all I had handy, TV stand was long gone by then)... I just now realized how humorous that is.

Another thing about me people find weird, I own less than ten DVDs (and only one Blu-ray).

I already knew this about you, I just wanted to post my new favorite gif (it's from Parks and Recreation, btw)

Do you have a PS3, or did someone just buy you a blu that you can't watch?

I do not own any kind of Blu-ray player, and I am pretty sure I haven't even removed the wrapper from the one disc I own. It is Full Metal Jacket, I bought it for $5 a few years back on a Black Friday sale.

Did you not realize it was a Blu?  I'm just wondering why you would buy something you can't play.  It certainly sounds like you never expected to buy a player...

Of course I knew it was a Blu-ray, just because I don't watch TV doesn't means I'm daft. ;)  I bought it because it was $5 and my DVD copy of that movie is only a 1.33 aspect ratio.

Actually, I expected to have a Blu-ray player by now, but I've still as of yet never even been so much as slightly tempted to buy one. My DVDs look just fine on a  50" 1080p television (well, there are these three films I rather like that look like shit on it, but all the rest look fine), so I just haven't seen a point. And streaming HD seems to be making quite a scene, by the time I get around to needing to replace my DVD player, Blu-ray might not even be the big thing anymore. Not to mention, more often than not I am less than impressed with the Blu-ray transfers and their overzealous DNR in many of the films I'd consider buying.

Situation the same, response the same.

Some people think I'm odd or just plain thick because I don't recognise current advertising jingles.

I do have way too many DVDs/VHSs etc but I don't have a Blu-Ray player.

I mean, they don't look like squeaky clean DNR'd to death Blu-rays, but they don't look "On no! I must replace with latest and greatest NOW!" type bad by any means. Obviously they'd look better at a higher resolutions, but I am perfectly content with how they look now.

Life: Season One

It is magical!

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

Still crazy about RuPaul's Drag Race.  I've spent the past couple of days catching up on season 3.  And because I apparently cannot wait until Monday when the winner is revealed, I had to go back and start watching season 2.  It's an obsession.  Somebody please help me.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

That is going to amazing!

I am also really, really, really, really, really looking forward to Gervais and Merchant's upcoming series Life's Too Short which is to be a fictionalized biographical series in the vein of Curb following Warwick Davis. Warwick Davis, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant, there is really nothing about that combination of names that isn't mind bogglingly exciting. Just based on the too good to be true premise, this is going to be the greatest TV show of all time.

Didn't know about that. How many times do you think Warwick will get kneed in the face?
