Oh he's got one, many works by him prove it. But for whatever reason George Lucas believes (believed, could be over somewhat) that 'Family' is the be all end all. He's said that the adoption of his kids revised how he looked at life. Before the children it was ok to ask questions about the existence of certain things, but he drew a line (on this issue) and the Family aspect became something he would proceed to proselytize and not question. His works/interviews show that. Star Wars which was about a varied number of things, all of a sudden it became about one person. Darth Vader Father. The psych people might weigh in that this could have been an unresolved issue with his real life father. After the car accident he had a falling out of grace with daddy-o, instead of taking over the family business he went into film making. After SW his life style financially became stable, he thought his marriage was stable, so that allowed him the opportunity to deal with this father thing. But consumed it, it did. So major aspects of real life (adopting kids) and creative exploits (DV) became father oriented. Or he's just capitalizing on a predominant feature of society. Or as the saying goes, write what you know.
In some odd way the midichlorean thing could be seen as a good sign, as he added in something which did leave something up in the air, the Force/Midichlorean debate is kind of unanswerable as it currently stands, in my opinion. Religion/Science. Faith/Observation.
