It is a sad day indeed. Sarah Jane Smith was always "my" companion, although Jo Grant was the assistant when i first started watching Doctor Who in the 70's. It was such a shock when i heard about this on the news last night. Her illness had been kept so secret and she had been working on the new series of "The Sarah jane Adventures" right up until the last few weeks of her life. She will be sadly missed. I hope they do some sort of tribute to her during this Saturdays first episode of the new season of Doctor Who or better still devote a whole episode of Confidential to her.

All the Doctor Who avatars that have appeared here lately, now seem strangely fitting
