There is no need to apologize. After letting my project go dormant for 2 years, it would be ridiculous of me to claim eternal rights to the title.  And "Son of Jor-el" is said several times in Superman 2, so its totally expected that another fan editor would eventually come up with the title idea on his own. So no hard feelings.  I should've gotten mine out years ago!

Best of luck with your edit.  I'll be sure to check it out.

And FE has a reputation for not caring about individual editor's works.  I'm surprised he bothered to say anything.  He must be new to FE.

I'm not really sure where you're getting that FE doesn't care about individual editors works, but whatever reputation you think FE has or had for that is far from the truth now. There will always be bad seeds at FE as well as OT, but that doesn't or at least shouldn't reflect on the site as a whole. I've witnessed some pretty nasty stuff at both sites, but never let it sway my opinion on the community as a whole.

I took over the reins (along with a wonderful crew of admins) at FE when Boon left, and one of the first things that I did was reach out to Jay and offer the proverbial olive branch between FE and OT. There is absolutely no reason why our two sites can't get along, and being a long time member of OT and FE, it pains me to see the malice that is displayed between members of the sites.

There is so much potential for cross-pollination in our sites, and I would love to see a better relationship grow between them.

Unfortunately I scuttled my account (don't ask), it has probably been deleted by now anyway. 

I just might have to check things out again.

Back on subject: Taolar, although I love the name you've been using, perhaps a name change on the next version would be a good idea.

+1.  Boon was a major issue.

For the record I've never had a single problem with Boon.  Actually, the opposite:  He's always been very supportive of me, and this project. He was the first person to reply when I started this thread, and one of the first to review the workprint.  I like the guy a lot, and not just because of his glowing review. ;)

FE.org has been fairly good to me too, although I never felt totally at home there.  My only real issue is that when I released my workprint they moved my Son of Jorel thread from the "Fanedits IN PROGRESS" forum to a new "Workprints and Previews" forum, which got a lot less traffic (and now
that I've re-checked, it actually doesn't appear in the main forum index page anymore).  I'm sure it was meant to better categorize it, but in the end it makes it invisible to most readers unless they do a search for it, and that's probably what caused it to not be seen by L8wrtr and Jelio.  Oh well.

Back on subject: Taolar, although I love the name you've been using, perhaps a name change on the next version would be a good idea.

I'll definitely come up with something different.  That's what I get for taking so long to finish it.  Hey, what do you think about just using a Kryptonian symbol and letting people call it The Edit Previously Known as Son of Jorel?  ;)

i am still looking forward to your final take, Taolar. You had some really cool WIP there with some truly unique ideas. At first when the fanedit by Jelio and L8wrtr appeared I thought it was yours finally finished.
I though have not forgotten about how impressive some parts of yours were. Get it done, please.

Watched the Superman Son of Jor-El by L8wrtr and Jelio.  Just wanted to confirm that (other than being a combination of Sup1 and 2 and focusing more on the relationship with Jor-El) this edit has virtually no similarities to my edit.  The overall sensibility toward Superman as well as specific editing choices are vastly different.

Work on mine will continue after I rebuilt my editing suite.  Still considering its new name.  Any ideas?

I haven't seen your edit yet, but I'm always down to watch another Superman edit!  For the title, how about:

The Last Son of Krypton

Since it's more of a focus on the father-son relationship and all.  Plus, I don't think it's been used. 

i watched the prerelease of this a few weeks ago. it had been decades since i saw a superman movie. so i could not really pick out what had been edited. but i enjoyed it very much good movie.

@RedFive- There are actually two fan edits released with that name.  Besides, I'm not a fan of using titles that were already used commercially, unless the editor is trying to re-create the story that originally used that title.

I was never fully satisfied with the title Son of Jorel anyway.  I just settled on it because I hadn't come up with anything better before announcing the project.  This will force me to come up with something better.

Just search "Son of Jorel" under torrents and it was the only one to pop up.  

Only one seeder right now.  Just 10 hours to go!  :)
