Idea: a 1997 SE in 720p - from colour corrected copies of the 2004 HD Broadcasts?

why not take a colour corrected copies of the 2004 HD Broadcasts and insert upscaled 97se parts where there is a visual difference

for audio just use the 97SE 5.1 mix?

Any ideas?

Adywan already did this with Empire, but his is in 1080p.

He's done 1080p AVCHD discs for ANH (color-corrected 2004 SE with 97 5.1, but Han shoots first), ESB (1997 SE restoration from the HD 2004, color corrected - don't know if he kept in the 04 shirt shadow/vest "fix" for Han, as he did in his 1980 theatrical DVD), and TPM (color corrected DVD/HD cut).

Don't know what his plans for Jedi are, but I'd wager it'll be the same as ESB (conform the 2004 HD to the 1997 SE and use the 1997 5.1). He's said he won't do this until after he finishes ESB:R, though.

Hmm. This does seem to have the potential to be a good idea. After all, some forum members, including me, seem to find the '97 versions less offensive. However, right now people seem to be concentrating on GOUT enhancements or Theatrical reconstructions in HD.

However, if you choose to do such an undertaking yourself, Harmy has reconstructed the 1997 Jabba Scene in HD here and TK-949 has reinserted Sebastian Shaw in HD here.
