Tried to watch the 2006 made for TV Doctor Who movie... Made it a bit less than half way through and I am really proud of myself! Took a lot of endurance! Kept thinking once the eighth Doctor regenerates it would get better, instead it got significantly worse. Favorite line was when the woman says, "I finally found the right guy, and he is an alien!" just five minutes after she called for an ambulance to come take him to the psychiatric ward for being a nutter, and about two minutes after he steal a motorcycle from a police officer... not sure what happened in that amount of time that made her do a 180 on her opinion of him... especially considering she already found out he had two hearts, came back from the dead, and walked through a pane of glass prior to her decision to have him admitted for to psychiatrics.

This being a back door pilot, it is no surprise it didn't get picked up for a series. "Jelly baby officer? Nom, nom, nom ,nom." Wow!

The reasons for it not being taken up are beyond it's being carp (and it is carp in terms of writing at least).

Fox put it on against a key episode of Rosanne and didn't bother to tell anyone it was on.

Over here it got 9 Million viewers (because the show never fell out of favour with the viewing public even when the BBC tried to kill it).

Both the Doctors were fine (despite the awful rubbish they were forced to say) and the sets were nice but good lord, it took them that long to come up with something that bad.

Sadly it was on par with some of the revived series at it worse which proved the BBC didn't need a partner to make the show with, all they needed was stories and ideas.

McGann thanks to Big Finish got to prove what a good Doctor he could have been in his audio stories.

Such a waste of potential.

As bad absolutely atrocious as some bits of the new revived series are, I feel the 1996 movie made them look like spectacular writing through and through.

I've been considering checking out the McGann Eighth Doctor Adventures, but there are so many it seems overwhelming, and I am not sure if I am big enough into Who to find time to listen to them.

You've just gotta get with the program, Frink!  The first 4 seasons of the revived series are on Netflix Instant, get on it!  ;-)

^ Judging by the tag line. If that movie were made now, it'd probably be a comedy

It was sort of an adventure-comedy. Tony Randall played 7 different characters, including a 7,000 year old Chinese mystic, Medusa, and Merlin the Magician, among others. I think some of the funniest/awkwardest moments now come from Randall's unintentionally(?) racist portrayal of Dr. Lao. It was a different era, when you could more easily get away with broad caricatures of racial stereotypes.

Wow, like 2004?

The 7 Faces Of Dr Lao is and will always be one of my favorite films but the book is (nods like Palpatine discussing people with power obsessed with maintaining their grip on it) so much better.

The Walker, someone wake me up when Paul Schrader goes back to making watchable films.

With such an amazing cast and a rarely if ever used main character profession (placing him into the centre of political and cultural life) you really have to work hard to get a film so lacking in depth.

It's like a Formica table, without the table.

Woody Harrelson seems to be playing a bad wax figure of Marlon Brando trying to pull of an impersonation of Vincent Price without cracking his paint job.

Inception

Third time through and it keeps getting better.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

Just watched 'Enemy Mine'. Had never heard of this movie until today. It was great.

Finally watched Toy Story 3. Unlike a lot of people, I didn't cry, but I really thoroughly enjoyed it. It was as good as everybody else said it was, though my sister said it sucked, I just told her she didn't have an opinion, because Cloverfield is her favorite movie.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas
