Okay, in the wake of Greenpenguino's get banned on tfn thread I made an account. (called HansShotFirst) and at first I was semi-subtly trolling saying things to the effect of "the prequels are for dummies"but hidden with more words. but then I thought maybe I can actually resolve some conflict here. so I made a thread saying this:

Okay, Hi. I came over here earlier today basically to troll. But I thought I shouldn't just say "jarjar sux!" so I decided to express some of my honest opinions. The reason I did this was because over the years I've heard many horror stories about this forum and people getting verbally assaulted and ultimately banned for expressing their opinions on the prequel trilogy. I don't care if you like the prequels. In fact in some cases I enjoy them. (fanedits but hey, its still the same film.) What I wanted to say is that people like different aspects of star wars. We should at least respect and consider differing opinions than our own right? If we can all just understand and respect eachothers opinions I think that this can be a pretty decent forum. (Also you would have to weed out all of the useless topics about random unimportant unresolvable things like "how old is Oola?" and "what would happen if this happened?"

I just wanted to clear some things up and make some of my personal opinions known.

The thread was then deleted and I was banned. So, I want to know some your thoughts and horror stories about theforce.net.

Edit: oh yeah and the thread title was "why can't we be friends"

Thus proving it is a waste of time to spend any time there.  Sheesh.

I can maybe understand why it was closed, because maybe they thought it would just stir the pot and you haven't been there long enough to fully understand what is and isn't tolerated--although I don't really agree with this. But banning you? Seriously? I mentioned it in another thread, but that place has just become a joke. I wouldn't even expect the Official site forums to be that bad. What did they say in the banning message?

Declaring an initial intension to troll was probably not a good idea.

Agreed, but since he didn't...surely a warning would have been a more rational decision.

Think about this: a guy states he has avoided a forum because he has heard a lot of bad things about intolerant mods and users but wants to give it a shot and extend an olive branch because he states it doesn't matter if you like or dislike the prequels and wants to join in the community.

He gets banned for this.

Imagine a thread like that anywhere else. Imagine it here. We would be welcoming him and telling him that if he just keeps himself in check, as he has stated he will do, then he will find there are a lot of nice people here with interesting thoughts and opinions.

But nope. They demonstrate the very bad things he stated he had heard about that had kept him away. Instead of demonstrating them to be exaggerations, they confirm. Thread deleted, user banned. Sieg heil!

The closest I ever got to being banned on TF.N was when I made a post stating that I didn't consider Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor canon, which sparked off an argument on personal canon and whether or not the term "personal canon" itself was an oxymoron, which culiminated with one of the mods making an implicit threat about how starting a "canon war" could lead to a ban.

In the end I conceded, coming to the conclusion that, yes, the term "personal canon" - if you go with the word "canon"'s strictest meaning - is an oxymoron. So now whenever I post on that forum I tend to use "personal continuity" instead of "canon" whenever I bring up the topic.

Still, that they made such a big scene out of the subject in the first place is ludicrous and an embarrassment.

Haha, maybe I should write a pamphlet on finding cool girls who like Star Wars. They do exist. The biggest argument I got into with my last girlfriend about anything was whether midichlorians were a good idea or not. It lasted for days. LOL

I'm not 100% sure, having never met her, or even played xbox with her, but it sounds like Ms. OO5 is cool.

I thought this was going to be a thread with horror fiction in it but with a TFN twist.

A friend of mine's, father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate was a mod on the TFN forums and had this disturbing PM exchange reported to him.

bubablessing: hey baby!!!

tv bracket: whos dis?

bubablessing: ur secret admirer!!!!!

tv bracket: o really.... quite lyin! who's dis?

bubablessing: i loved u the first time i stared in your eyes...

bubablessing: i think about u everyday... Remeber the distance or colour does not matter but love matters alot in life.

bubablessing: we met once! i dont think you remember tho.

bubablessing: i cut myself because the pain takes away my feelings of u.

bubablessing: tonight u will see me sometime tonight...

tv bracket: .. WHO IS DIS!?!?!?

bubablessing: dont worry.... ill take very good care of you...

bubablessing: has signed off.

The girl was so scared she locked all her doors and windows. she made sure her room was secured. she was so scared if it was a joke or for real. she didnt know when he was going to come. the girl was frightened, so she decided to sleep with her little sister. the girl dozed off quickly. then she heard a knock on the window. the girl slowly walked to the window. it started knocking louder. the girl looked through the windows and saw nothing. just some of the tree branches. the girl went back to bed with her sister. the bed was wet and smelled horrid. maybe her sister wet the bed... the girl checked and found blood everywhere. the girl panicked. she didnt know what to do. she ran and hid in the washing machine incase the guy was there for her. while looking through the glass of the washing machine, the girl saw a shadow. it was dark so she couldnt figure out who it was. she started to get more frightened. the man crept closer to the washing machine. the girl closed her eyes as if it were all a dream. then suddanly the PETER MAYHEW opened the washing machine door and pulled her out. her parents found her dead. she and her sister were skinned all the way and hung in her sisters closet. She had shrunk in the wash.

PART 2... 2 years after the girls' deaths, their parents got pregnant with a baby boy and the girls room became a guest bedroom, and the little sisters room where the murder took place became the babys room. the baby grew up to be a successful kid. one night he has on TFN and he got a private message.

tv bracket: hey lil bro!!!

onthebroadway: who the f is this?

tv bracket: its your big sis.

onthebroadway: i never had a sister. im an only child.

onthebroadway: this is some kinda joke huh?

tv bracket: mom and dad never told you what happened to your sisters?

tv bracket: i died 15 years ago with your other older sister, who was my little sister. i was first, she was second, and now its you.

tv bracket: we were murdered in your room, which was once my little sister's room. she was killed in bed while i was sleeping, and i was killed in the washing machine. then we were both skinned to death.

onthebroadway: quite lying. i never had a sister. if i did my parents would tell me. whatever. youre stupid.

tv bracket: you dont believe me? well, if you wanna look in washing machine...

tv bracket: i stiched my name, time and date i was being murdered. then i stitched my little sisters name on a sock and it's still in there.

tv bracket: if you dont believe me little brother, check the internet. type in "Arandela sisters murdered anonymously".

tv bracket: i g2g little brother. i love you. and mom and dad soo much. i cant believe they kept us a secret from you. they should burn in he11.

the boy checked the washing machine. he saw the sock. was it true? he surfed the internet and everything was there about the anonymous murder in the house. the next morning the boy went downstairs. it was so quiet. maybe mom and dad was sleeping... hours later the boy went to his parents room and found them in the washing machine, skinned and hung and spun dry then he found more socks on the ground. they said, "I TOLD YOU I WASNT LYING. LITTLE BROTHER, I LOVED MOM AND DAD... BUT THEY KEPT ME AND MY LITTLE SISTER A SECRET. I CANT BELIEVE IT. WELL, IM FREE FROM THIS COLD WORLD NOW. I PROMISE I WONT HURT YOU LIKE HOW MOM AND DAD DIED... WELL, I WONT HURT YOU AT ALL. I LOVE YOU! - *ADELAIDA ARANDELA*" this is a death chain. if you dont repost this within the next hour, then then Adelaida's parents will kill you at night. they WILL kill you.so repost this saying, "2 sisters"... well, what are you waiting for??? do it... NOW!!!!! DONT BELIEVE ME?

Don't worry - I've got one in the works. It's about a psychopath named Go-Mer-Tonic who hides his face behind a smug Han Solo mask and goes door-to-door in search of OOT fans to stab with his Knife of Condescension. I'm only on the rough draft, though, so it'll be some time before I've ironed all the kinks out and readied it for primetime.

That's sad, the canon wars are what turned me off taking the EU so seriously! Which drifted into the Special Editions and brought me here!
