Hairy_Hen originally did 5.1 upmixes of Empire and Jedi that included music not present in the original theatrical release (for Empire, it was the scene where Boba Fett takes off with Han - he restored the natural end of the cue as heard in the '97/'04 SE; for Jedi, he added in the never-before-used-in-any-version-of-the-movie cue when Luke talks to Ben's ghost on Dagobah).

In order to use 5.1 upmixes for this and similar preservation projects, HH also made "purist" versions of Empire and Jedi that remove these music changes, so that there's no content in the mixes that wasn't in the original theatrical releases.

Screw it, getting a dual dvd burner and disks on Amazon.

Something I just found out LOL, I actually do NOT have the discs you guys have anymore, I thought I backed them up but did not, so the versions you guys have are the only ones like that.

Man, I watched star wars last night and must repeat everyone else and say this is the best I've seen Star Wars. Thank you. I'm currently sitting down to watch empire.

For 1 thing he did not use the Limited Edition bonus disc for his source, and I did not do any extensive color correcting, it is just to hard to get everything right for everyone, but for the record, I prefer the V3 color there as apposed to the other screen, it looks to SE to me and not OT, this whole color debate is just to hard to deal with and I will just leave it at that.

Also, not to start a war or anything, but who says that the top screen is 100% correct? how do we even know what is 100% correct?

The top shot looks like Luke is at the beach on a sunny day.  The bottom (v3) shot looks Luke is on a cold freezing stormy tundra.

Evidently the v3 hits the mark.  The original SW filmmakers may have color corrected this particular scene toward a bluish tint to suggest coldness.  This is an artistic application of lighting.

If I were you, I'd take your 2004 box set (assuming you have one) with the cool silver image on either side. Then I'd take those DVD's (except for the bonus disc) and THROW THEM AWAY. Then put your nice new DVD's in the box.

That image gets old after seven years. :p

I just finished watching the entire V3 trilogy in one sitting (OK, I had a break for dinner, so shoot me).

I can only say it is fantastic. The colours are excellent, not oversaturated, not washed out - just perfect in my view. Sound is excellent on my 5.1, picture is brilliant on my 46" LG, and it is everything I have been waiting for. Let me put it this way, Carrie is so HOT once again! :D I think she looked best at the end of SW when she gave them the medals.

Moving on, not counting the prequels, I really fear what George is going to do next with the upcoming Blu release. Maybe he'll reshoot that "let me look at you with my own eyes" scene of ROTJ with Haydn instead.. !

No, for me, these are the definitive Star Wars movies. DJ and team have managed something truly fantastic. I can't decide whether I should be more grateful or more in awe of the sheer hard work done here. Maybe both? :D

In the mean time, here is a question that's been bugging me for a long time, maybe someone can enlighten me..

In SW, C3P0 says "There'll be no escape for the princess this time", then later, upon viewing the recording from R2, he says "It's someone of some importance I presume, a passenger from our last voyage". My question is, from the first statement (which is right at the beginning), it seems to imply that C3P0 knows who Leia is (and quite a bit about what she does no less), so why is C3P0 acting like he doesn't know who she is when he sees the recording? OK, so C3P0 is not exactly the smartest nail in the box, still.. ;)

OK, didn't mean to ramble OT - ignore me. Just have a GOUTv3 high is all :)

These will be my definitive versions, with Revisited as my "What if's...".

Maybe 3PO new the Princess was on board but did not know what she looked like, I don't really know.

No offense to anyone, I, personally, just don't frickin care.  I mean really?  Each person who does a transfer uses their own knowledge, the knowledge of others, and everything they have available to them to share something with everybody.  

I appreciate what everyone has done regardless of how they saw fit to do it.  This is also the reason why I am hesitant to ever share an archive.  I started one and then realized all too soon that issues like these create far more tension than I'm willing to take on.  

I know comparisons are bound to happen, we do it with all the different releases of the OT, why wouldn't fans have their work looked on any different...but at the fan level, it can be far more personal and it really makes this noob squeamish.

Thanks again for all those who take the plunge and offer up their work to this world of fans......cheers!!!!
