Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released) — Page 84

Hi DJ,

When I was a kid growing up, I spent a lot of time home alone. One of the things I had with me was a VHS recording of a TV broadcast of Star Wars. I must have watched it over a 100 times. I could recite entire parts of dialogs by heart. When I was finally old enough to earn my own keep, of course, I bought the VHS of SE.

Fast forward to about six months or so ago, I found your GOUT v2. I signed up and paid for a Usenet account just so I could download it. Then, while it was downloading, I found this thread. After reading it, seeing screencaps, discussions, etc, days turned into weeks, and then I realised, I could not bring myself to watch the v2. I wanted to watch the best, and the best is DJ's v3. So v2's been sitting on my Drobo ever since, and I've not yet played it once.

Since I found this thread, I've been hitting refresh on this thread on a daily basis, and today, I see it's up at myspleen. I still have my Usenet account, and I hope you will put it there as well, but regardless, I've sent a PM to ask for an invite. And yes, in order to send a PM, I've joined OT.com.

In short, what I wanted to tell you was my heartfelt thanks for all the work you have done. As a Star Wars fan, I appreciate it very, very much. I don't know about anyone else, but for me, personally, what you have done makes a very big difference - and my thanks to you for it.

If you asked me what was the best hair product or Judy Garland biography, I wouldn't be all "Why don't you just Google it." I would be all "Tresemme Volumizing Mousse and Judy Garland World's Greatest Entertainer."

Information you probably got by Googling it.  BTW, does mousse work on pug fur?

No, it doesn't, and don't make me slap you. I am using Bitoorent but I show no seeders and no peers even though I know that they're there. Am I doing something wrong on my end?

What client are you using?  I had the same issue because I was using the official "Bittorrent" client.  There was an error message that said to check the FAQ for approved clients.  I downloaded μtorrent, and then grabbed the torrent file again and everything started working fine.

utorrent is the best by far.  (μtorrent)

P.S. I could still use a MySpleen invite if anyone has one handy ;-)

I second uTorrent.  Best bittorrent client by far, with minimal set up required.

Do these have layer breaks or do I need to make my own like the ones in the Imgburn forum?

I could use an invite to myspleen as well.  My old login is not working anymore.  Thanks

I just finished watching ANH on my HX800 55 inch. It's beautiful dark_jedi, just beautiful. I don't know how the hell you accomplished this. It's amazing. Thank you man, it's gorgeous. I'm in awe.  This marks the greatest day in OT history. You've got tiger blood dark_jedi. I'm gonna put on a diaper in preparation for Empire. You're the man dark_jedi, your Zues, you're Hercules, you're Elvis etc.

I forgot to ask you d_j, did you ever update this DVD set? Just wonder if I should download this or is it identical to the "test-discs?"

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Just echoing stretch009's question: if using ImgBurn, I'm presented a window offering a choice of where to put the layer break.

Does it matter what I choose?  Any ideal spot?

It is up to you really, all content is exactly the same, but you guys did say the chapters drifted so I went through and manually fixed all of them, and the menu's have been adjusted, meaning the score is no longer hidden, it is now an option, and I re set the layer-break, but since I uploaded the files instead of an image that really does not matter, I did this so people can set there own layer-break, because 1 of them, I believe Empire, will not let me put it like the retail, I am guessing because of all the extra audio's and the bonus recordings, but really not sure, that is the 1 thing I do not like about Imgburn, you are limited to what options it gives you, unless there is another setting somewhere I do not know about LOL.

1 GREAT thing though, I will not have any of these issues on the Blu-ray version, everything is lined up perfectly on that set, and speaking of, just working on menu's now, all video is rendered and encoded, all audio is done, hell I could actually make movie only Blu's now if I wanted to.

LOL, looking at the leechers over at Spleen, it looks like some of the people that I sent the DVD's to are downloading these also, so it is up to you msycamore, to be honest, I am not sure if I would, especially if you don't really worry about chapters much, and you already know that the score is there, it's cool either way, just letting you know.

Thanks for the explanation d_j, and I must also thank you again for all the audiosyncing you have done on these, an enormous undertaking that really can make one person go mad, IMO the true star of this set!

LOL, you got a taste of the Madness doing those subs, it sux doesn't it? starts to feel like a job, and you just want it OVER, but the super cool thing about the audio, it will port right over nicely to the Blu-ray set, and I will be able to keep it fresh LPCM.

Can't you preview the choices?  Just pick the one you like best.

I talked to Icy today and his going to test that issue out tomorrow and see if it's possible. So we should know one way or another soon.

If you want a Myspleen invite, just PM me and ask.

Yeah, I checked each of the options out, I just wasn't sure if there was one in particular other members would have suggested, or if I should have just clicked the "ignore layer break" button.

Ultimately, I went with the first option which ImgBurn gave me, which placed the break between the Falcon jumping to hyperspace when escaping Tatooine and the establishing shot of the Death Star before it destroys Alderaan.  Doesn't seem to really matter in the end, though, as the movie played right through the break without a pause.

DJ, I just flipped through the DVD and I must say it looks great.  I can't tell you how nice it is having the version of Star Wars which I grew up with at this level of video and audio quality.  A big thanks to you and everyone who contributed to this project... you really made my day.

The Empire cover is even sexier than Wars.  I can't wait to get these on my shelf.
