That doesn't make sense.  Most fanedits are DVD compliant.  I can see you having an issue with AVCHD, or other formats like avi, but DVDs (including ANHR) should work on pretty much any player.

Sony doesn't support standard DVD format?  Somehow I doubt that...

What? Really? It plays fine on my samsung blu-ray player. I don't see how that's even possible.

Oh, it plays store bought DVD's fine, but pop in a fan edit, and all it says is "unknown". Firm ware has been updated, and I have tried it on other Sony Blu-ray players and it still wont work. I have a Sony BDP-S350.

Seems to work on most standard dvd players though except for the SONY brands. Haven't found a Sony brand yet that will play it, including the Playstation 3. It will; however, play on my Denon. I have been told that Sony doesn't support Piracy, so they don't include the mpeg codecs that fan edits use on their players. Mpeg codecs are not all the same, even if they are dvd compliant. If I'm not mistaken Ady uses Directshow pro for all of his encoding, and those mpeg codecs it uses are not supported my SONY.

Now dvd Rips are a different story, they work on any sony player, because the codecs don't change when you rip and burn to another disc. I have tried many of those with great success.

I hope the AVCHD codecs that Directshow pro uses are supported by Sony, or I'm going to have to settle with the DVD-9 and just play it on m dvd only Denon.
