/\ I totally agree about the movie.  But the way I look at it is this - the movie is Joss' way of showing us where his show was going, while still making an awesome movie.  And in that regard, the movie makes the show even better I think. 

It shows the potential it had, and you can just imagine how the show could have unfolded had FOX not completely fucked it up in every way (showing almost every episode out of order WHAT THE WHAT!)

Also I don't know if you've seen any of the comics he's done, but they help link the show to the movie better (for example, it shows the fate of the "hands of blue" guys).  Not a perfect remedy, but he had to work with what he could do, and he did it pretty damn well.

Can't wait for the Whedon's Avengers!!!

Totally agreed! One reason I have a hard time getting into just about any sitcoms. When did this lame idea come about that we need ques to tell us when a part in a show is funny? Sure, I get that it is simulating being recorded in front of a live audience, but as far as I am concerned, when shows actually are filmed in front of a live audience, mics shouldn't be directed at the audience anyway.

There's also a more recent comic out - Serenity: The Shepherd's Tale - that explains Shepherd Book's history with the Alliance.  It's very good, but it's too bad that we never got to see it on the screen.

Apparently there's another one about Wash's pre-Serenity days, as well, but I haven't read that one yet.

Still watching American Chopper. I'm glad Vinnie and Nub are back, and it's great to see Junior designing choppers again. There are always aspects of current OCC bikes I like, but they definitely lack the extra uniqueness Junior brings to his projects.

Well, there was also the live-action show that the Filmation cartoon series was based on.

This no doubt confused many kids, as the series was from 1975, which was well before the movie and cartoon series they knew. The parents probably didn't have any videos of it to show them, either.

Actually, there were video tapes of at least the Filmation cartoon series, because I remember renting it quite frequently when I was a kid.

I meant video tapes of the live-action series so the parents could prove the Filmation cartoon was based on an old show. ;)

Which is also why the Ghostbusters cartoon was called "The REAL Ghostbusters".

Yeah, I just found this little summation of the controversies involving the names, which kinda reminds me of the old Nintendo PlayStation thing:

"The show is also known as The Original Ghost Busters because when Columbia Pictures released the film Ghostbusters in 1984 it neglected the fact that Filmation had already produced a live-action comedy series with that same name in 1975. Filmation sued Columbia in 1985, and as part of the out-of-court settlement the cartoon based on the Columbia Pictures property could not simply be called Ghostbusters. Columbia proceeded to name their cartoon show The Real Ghostbusters to directly distinguish it from the Filmation show.[7]

Filmation had even gone as far as to attempt to work with Columbia Pictures and had completed initial design work for a cartoon to be based on the movie. Columbia changed its mind, deciding not to work with Filmation, and the proposed deal fell through (Columbia worked with DiC instead). Filmation's Lou Scheimer later admitted "We should have asked for the animation rights for their (Columbia's) Ghostbusters as part of the settlement."[8] This prompted Filmation to create the cartoon based on its former live-action series."

Thank god Columbia changed its mind, because IIRC The Real Ghostbusters was pretty good, and the Filmation one sucked gorilla balls.

Big Finish's Doctor Who Eighth Doctor audio dramas.  Currently listening to The Time of the Daleks.

On the whole, it's been very, very good, with the exception of Minuet in Hell, which was pretty terrible.  I'll even go so far as to say The Chimes of Midnight and Embrace the Darkness are better than much of the current 2005-present series.

I'm almost upon Neverland and Zagreus, which are apparently controversial, but I don't know why (thankfully, it's easier to catch up on Big Finish spoiler-free than it is the TV show).

Problem is, now I really want to see an Eighth Doctor spin-off TV series.

I am in AWE at how bad the writing on "Smallville" has gotten. I'm counting down the weeks until I never have to watch this show again (nine plus years is too long to give up before the finale).

I still like the show, but yeah, it's not the same. I think the main issue for me is that so many characters talk like Chloe, with the constant catchphrases and pop culture references. It used to be just her, pretty much, but now everyone does it.

They did a similar thing with Scrubs in the last couple of seasons, where there were suddenly 3 or 4 of Dr. Cox and his attitude/way of speaking. :p

Yesterday I just finished disc five of Chuck season 2.  The episode 'Chuck vs the Dream Job' was incredible!  I can't wait to see what happens next . . .
