Help: looking for... 'Army of Darkness' and other Various Cuts

*THIS THREAD WAS ORIGINALLY: REPO MAN, PULP FICTION, ARMY OF DARKNESS, AND BREAKFAST CLUB TV CUTS?

Hey everyone, I recently discovered the cult classic Repo Man and liked it. After realizing there was a TV cut, I recorded the next broadcast only to find that it was not the TV cut described here in imdb. Does anyone have a copy of the original tv cut?

Also, about Pulp Fiction, I was watching it on AMC a few weeks ago and was amazed that it was in widescreen. Does anyone have a copy of the widescreen version that’s recently been showing? The alterations give the movie a whole new oddity and are interesting in my opinon.

I’m a big Evil Dead fan, so I’m curious to see the famed Army of Darkness TV Cut with all its “apeheads.” I also would be curious to see this just to view a good open matte transfer of the movie. Ridgeshark was planning to release this a few months ago I believe, right releasing his excellent fan edit, but did he ever? Anyway, that being said, I’d be greatly interested in a copy of this gem.

Finally, does anyone have the Breakfast Club TV cut? Since no one has replied to my other thread about fan edits of it, I’d still be interested in a TV version of it…

If anyone could help, it would be great…

Ditto on the Army of Darkness TV version.  I've seen Ridgeshark's Primitive Screwhead Edition, but I'd love to have access to a copy of the TV cut to possibly rework my own extended version.

It seems the only version airing on cable these days is the standard theatrical cut :/

A&E used to run the Repo Man tv cut all the time in the 90's. They would also have an ad during the closing credits hawking the VHS tape, but no idea if they were actually selling the TV cut.

Edit: Clips from tv cut can be seen here:

Interesting that this is the only other movie I know of besides THX-1138 with credits that scroll the wrong way. ;)

Where were you in '77?

I did have the Moviedrome showing from the late 80's on BBC2 which was the T.V cut of RepoMan. Introduced and afterword by Alex Cox himself. This was my first viewing of this classic but sadly I cannot locate it and am fairly sure it was recorded over once I got the official VHS. I'm still looking though! So if anyone has this screening would be interested in a copy.

I have a master VHS recording of SciFi's Army of Darkness.  I'm certain there are better copies out there.

What exactly is a "master" VHS recording? do your screens look like this?

Like Dark Jedi, I'm not so clear what you are saying. Do you mean that it's not a VHS dupe and is first generation? Even though there may be better copies out there, I'd love a transfer of this; it's better than having nothing.

Also, Dark Jedi, those screen caps look good. Do you have a copy of that set you can upload to Hotfile, Megaupload, torrents, Rapidshare, etc?

Yea, I wish he would answer what "master" means, does he have a studio master copy LOL.

What I mean by master recording is that it's taped from broadcast, not that I have a pre-broadcast tape.  It's not a 1st gen VHS dub, which to me is VHS > VHS.

To answer dark_jedi, yes, my tape looks like the screen captures although it has been many years since I watched it.  Matter-of-fact, I watched it shortly after Sci Fi premiered it.

I currently do not have a good VHS to DVD setup.  I also have a VHS dub of the  Japanese LD version of Army of Darkness.  Someone must have transfer that LD version to DVD properly.

If you eventually do get a good VHS to DVD setup going, I'd be very interested in both a copy of the TV cut and that VHS dub you have of the Japanese LD. I'm a big Evil Dead fan, as you can tell by my signature and avatar, so these sound interesting. You're right; someone should transfer that Japanese LD version. I've never seen it but from what I've heard it is interesting indeed.

The JPN LD is fullframe with burnt-in subs.  It was the first most complete public version of the film having the the slightly longer love scene, Sheila dress ripping scene, and the international ending and dialog.

So... has anyone found any copies of any of these TV edits or the AOD Japanese Laserdisc?

Bump. Found a widescreen version of the Pulp Fiction TV Cut, so I'm fine on that, the Repo Man extended scenes are what I was mostly interested in, and I don't think there was anything special about the Breakfast Club when its on TV. So, does anyone happen to have the AOD TV Cut?

I have a VHS recording off of the Sci-Fi channel probably 1st or 2nd broadcast.  Surely, there's a higher resolution capture out there.

AOD TV cut has been available for a while, more or less.  Hit FE.org and look for "Primitive Screwhead Edition".  He's got the TV footage in there.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Well, you're the only one who's come forward. Other people might have a copy but it could be the same quality as yours, which looked pretty good judging by the captures above.

Thanks for the advice Ziz, but I have the screwhead edition already. I'm interested in the whole broadcast, with it's queer censorship (apeheads). Also, the color of it seems quite different, sometimes clearer

If you look at the Primitive Screwhead thread here and here, Ridgeshark made a capture and sent it to Rikter.  Then mcfly89 made a WGN capture.  I seem to recall someone else that had it too.

That's true... I'll have to look into that. Reverend Beastly also had a copy but his website says he's not trading right now.

EDIT: I just sent a PM to both Ridgeshark and mcfly89. However, I'm not that hopeful since they haven't logged on since last April and last year, respectively.

By the way, Rikter has his disabled, so it's a no-go there, and, because Reverend Beastly isn't currently trading, I'm hesitant on that front too.

I think the DVD that I have is the same one that DJ posted caps from. The color saturation on his might be a bit better, but the sharpness is comparable. I can help you out. It might take me a while to get you the disc, but I'll probably get around to it. Just email me.

I also have the DJ/Segaflip SC discs you write about in your signature. We'll figure that out too.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

When I am home in some weeks, I may check what version I have on LD. I have one jap. LD of the Movie.

But, what are the differences in the TV Version? Is it just a Full Screen Version? Or does it differ in other way from the DC or TC ?

Could you transfer the LD to DVD?

SciFi version has many scenes not in DC or TCs.

I never tried to convert a LD to DVD. I just have a normal LD Player and a USB Stick for Import. The point is that I don't have my PC near the LD Player.. they are seperated about 300 km ... :)

I bought the LD together with LDs of Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 on eBay about 2 years ago. Never wathced them, because I have some DVDs from around the world of the movie...

Maybe my Laptop could get this.

I allways thought the japanese LD is just like the normal Theatrical Cut.

The only scene I know which differs (but between Theatrical Cut and DC afaik) is "Good? Bad? I'm the guy with the gun." instead of "I ain't that good." Okay the DC is some scenes longer.

Which Version contains the Ending with the supermarket and which with the longer sleep?

Bad thing that it's seldom that in germany we get infos on longer us Television Versions.
