Whilst the subject of "ethnic cleansing" is high on the topic of debate....
lets bring up a few HISTORICAL points...
Hmmm lets see.....................Genocide.......
How about WHITE Americans commiting acts of genocide against the native people? Kinda sounds like ethnic cleansing to me......does that make it any better or worse than what Hitler attempted? No it doesn't, both are heinous evil acts THAT SHOULD NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I'm sure it gets skipped over in US history class tho
& before anyone thinks I'm anti American.......Im a Brit & I'm WELL AWARE of the fact that The British Empire INVENTED the CONCENTRATION CAMP during the BOER WAR which was fought during 1899-1901.
Just changing the subject slightly.......had the misfortune of watching PEARL HARBOUR & was amazed at some of the liberties taken by Messers Bruckheimer & Bay, although rightly I should be pointing the finger of death at the script writers!
Hmm the first instance that annoyed me................the RAF pilots casual comment about "how the Yankee pilots would single handedly win the War"
& secondly the notion that the War didn't start until the bombing of Pearl Harbour!
Now these may seem inconsequential or perhaps even trivial to most of you, but to me I find it totally unbelievable! Just want to clarify something here....
To you Americans out there..........during your history classes do you study WW2? If so...what period do you study? By this I mean, do you study the War as a whole or just the American involvement? It does make me wonder whether US kids are taught that WW2 didn't start until 1941! I realise "it's just a film" I'm just curious.

Because in your mind there culture is 'wrong', who is to say that your culture isn’t wrong?

In Europe you would get princesses getting engaged at the ages of 8-9 and being married off at the ages as early as 12. These things were happening in the middle ages. Another thing I AM NOT ISLAMIC but I find it really insulting when you call Mohammad a pedophile. Like motti said look at you own bishops and priest. Mohammad was exactly like Jesus and Moses for that matter. He was the Islamic messiah.

You say you not pro-war but then you go and say things like 'lets go to war with Cuba, lets go to war with Iran, and north Korea' just for your info NK wants to be what ever they are right now (I cant remember if they are socialists or communists. or a lil of both but the fact remains that that country wants to be the way it is. The US does not want that and so they have pretty much killed their industry).

When I say your homophobic I mean you are afraid of other cultures and strange people, it is obvious in everything you say on the site. Just curious have you ever sat down and look at communism on paper, it is brilliant, on paper but the problem is that man kind is not ready to use it. Why because of capitalize and globalization. The idea of putting yourself above everyone else for your own sake not for the sake of people that you may affect that idea is too widespread in the world for communism to work. Just so you don’t go ant think that I am pro-USSR the fact is that there has never present or past been a country that has been pure communist.

Your views of being the best and being the champions of world, YOUR beliefs that YOU have to PROTECT the world from values and beliefs that are not the same as YOURS is the reason that there is such an Anti-American movement in the world. If you think about kids on the playgrounds this is what America would be like.
QuoteIt's not about spelling or letters, it is about the general spirit of that religion. And honestly, the way you were talking I wasn't sure if you'd know who 'Isa' was, so I referred to him as Jesus. It's the same person, so what's the deal?
First of all, it is spelled Quran or Koran

Ok thanks for answering that one, as I stated in my post I was merely curious as to how WW2 was taught, not attacking you in any way, go back & re-read my post, as a non-American, who had relatives that died in WW2, one is curious as to how you lot over the pond are taught. I also stated that I DO REALISE it's just a movie & wanted to make sure that it was just instances of movie glorification and not subtle "correctings of history".
I am in no way insulting you or suggesting that what you state is right or wrong, I was merely offering some other instances of acts of genocide that appear to have been "brushed under the carpet" so to speak. I personally feel it is important that these acts of genocide, as well as the mass slaughter in WW2, even WW1, NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. Do we really want to repeat past events?
Just a couple more examples of genocide:
The eradication of the Aborigines in Australia (damn those pesky white men, they are so evil ), the atrocities commited by the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia in 1975. In more recent memory there has been the acts of genocide commited against the Kurds in Kosova!
Chaltab, don't take my comments personally, they are not personal attacks, if they were I'm sure you'd notice I'm almost playing Devil's Advocate with ya!
Regarding your comment above about white men being the evil of the world, well IMHO the white man, past & present, does have a lot to answer for, don't you think? By forgetting these events, because as you say, we are nothing to do with it, do you not think that we are blinding ourselves? Surely it is a great dishonour to simply forget these past crimes? Does it not bother you in the slightest that your distant anscestors were capable of such heinous acts? I know theres nothing we can do about it now, that's not the point, the point is that we can be best served by remembering past terrors and ensuring that OUR descendants don't repeat past mistakes.

Yes, it bothers me very much that they did what they did. But the individuals responsible are to blame, are they not? Can we blame all blacks for OJ Simpson killing his wife? Can we blame all Asians for the crimes of Kim Jong? Of course not. I find it offensive that many (and I am not saying you are doing this) try and take the crimes of certain individuals and blame them on a race or culture. That is what I want to avoid, and I hope you understand where I am coming from. There is an attempt by some in our "educational facilities" here in the USA to revise history and/or discredit America as a nation by pointing out atrocites like the fact that certain people massacred Indians. As if my generation is responsible for those deeds. I hope we can agree that modern Americans aren't responsible for those things.

Good point Motti. And, as Kevin Smith says in Dogma, denominations and beliefs are what ruin religion. God only wants people to believe in him and develop ideas, not beliefs, because beliefs are much harder to change than ideas.
