lets bring up a few HISTORICAL points...
Hmmm lets see.....................Genocide.......
How about WHITE Americans commiting acts of genocide against the native people? Kinda sounds like ethnic cleansing to me......does that make it any better or worse than what Hitler attempted? No it doesn't, both are heinous evil acts THAT SHOULD NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I'm sure it gets skipped over in US history class tho
& before anyone thinks I'm anti American.......Im a Brit & I'm WELL AWARE of the fact that The British Empire INVENTED the CONCENTRATION CAMP during the BOER WAR which was fought during 1899-1901.
Just changing the subject slightly.......had the misfortune of watching PEARL HARBOUR & was amazed at some of the liberties taken by Messers Bruckheimer & Bay, although rightly I should be pointing the finger of death at the script writers!
Hmm the first instance that annoyed me................the RAF pilots casual comment about "how the Yankee pilots would single handedly win the War"
& secondly the notion that the War didn't start until the bombing of Pearl Harbour!
Now these may seem inconsequential or perhaps even trivial to most of you, but to me I find it totally unbelievable! Just want to clarify something here....
To you Americans out there..........during your history classes do you study WW2? If so...what period do you study? By this I mean, do you study the War as a whole or just the American involvement? It does make me wonder whether US kids are taught that WW2 didn't start until 1941! I realise "it's just a film" I'm just curious.
Oh my Gosh! Yes let's blame the white man for the worlds problems. We caucasians are the cause of evil on Earth. Seriously. Yeah. The early settlers did some evil things. And yes they do teach that in US history. But why bring that up? Am I--or my family--or anybody alive today responsible for those massacres?
Also you have to remember that the many times attacks against indians were caused when Indians attacked first. I'm not saying genocide is ever an answer. It just makes me sick that you attack my credibility by pointing out the sins of a long-dead generation.
And yes, they do teach all of WWII in History. I wrote a report on WWII in the... er.. sixth grade I believe. Or maybe fourth...
And watching Pearl Harbor (it's been a while, Christmas Eve 2000, I think) never gave me the impression they were suggesting PH started the War.
Anyway. I am done with this one.
