I was stoked that the most arty-farty director in Hollywood was gonna tackle the most commercial property. Should have been interesting.

I know. This is sad. But probably a good move. I could have imagined it turning out something like Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Alien flick. Some parts of the film world are simply not meant to collide.
I could foresee it mixing enough aspects of art films with those of action films to suck at being either one.
It might have been great, might have been not great, but I'm so bored with these action superhero movies I'd rather see an interesting failure than another generic snoozefest liked the last Wolverine movie.
