You just pinpointed something I love about Star Wars. I think I touched on it in thee commentary, but I love how Star Wars means different things to different people. All of the cuts and changes you found unnecessary I found completely essential. Cutting back on Han didn't bother me because I feel he was terribly handled in the original, but some of the things that are missing bother you. Its why Star Wars is so great. It might make more sense of my choices, whether you agree or disagree.
