There's nothing like a résumé that's handed to you by someone you know. It's just sort of the way humans are built, I guess.
see that is another thing I can't stand. Its all about who you know.

Divide up the people you know into three categories:
1. Close relatives and close friends
2. Not as close friends, friends of friends
3. Acquaintances, etc..That the people in group 1 will seldom actually be able to get you a job. If they could, they would have already. You have to look at groups 2 and 3. Some of these people you won't have talked to in a while and you might feel some chagrin in calling them up to ask if they can help you get a job when you don't call them about anything else. Ever. But ignore that feeling... it's likely these people know that you aren't a close friend and don't expect you to act like one. They know they might call you about a job if the roles were reversed, so they probably won't feel like you're just trying to take advantage of them. Again, it's just sort of human nature.
So my advice would be to give that some serious thought, if you haven't already.
thanks for the advice, but I know very few people in life. No one that I can think of would be able to get me a job. I'm not sure I would want them to. I don't know that I want a job that someone more qualified would have gotten if not for the fact that I knew the right people.
see this is what I really can't stand about trying to get a job. It seems to be all about:
-who you know
-how well you can sell yourself
-how you dress for the interview
-how good you are in interviews
-how willing you are to lie about who you really are and what you are really like in order to get a job
-how nice you resume looks
-how many tricks you pick up about applying for job and interviews and making a resume and whatnot from books and classes about hunting for a job and whatnot
-plain dumb luck
what it doesn't seem to be about at all is:
-how qualified and how good you'd be at the job and the tasks required of the job.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
