Look, I'm sorry, I don't mean to ruin everything, but... are you guys sure an online petition, even if it has thousands and thousands of votes, will persuate GL to change his mind? BTW, has anything like this worked before?

BTW I'm telling everyone I know, and I told about originaltrilogy in a brazillian SW message board.

Maybe it will, maybe not. Maybe GL is really Jar Jar Binks. All I know is at the very least, we are doing all we can to preserve Star Wars and that is a noble goal worth fighting for regardless of the outcome.

i know that the petition to release A Christmas Story in widescreen worked..
im not sure how many signatures they had but when the studio released the demand was there they started working on it in no time...

And that is hopefully all we have to do. Because after looking at just the regular person reviews, even those who liked the SE for the most part themselves were having a hard time justifying no OT, especially when there isn't one.

Well according to the media, the decision to release the SE early was due to fan petitioning, so it seems that it did work there...

This petition has 49,697 confirmed signatures. I don't think there was quite that many for The Phantom Menace, but it's on DVD now.

The closest we can come to saying the LFL knows of us is that Jay has received unofficial word that someone in LFL has seen our petition. Also, he said that at one point, someone signed the petition using an LFL e-mail address. However, the signature was never confirmed so it could have been faked.

I see, interesting. I am not totally concerned at this point because the longer there is no OT on DVD and especially when the SE-like SW releases by itself, I can guarantee that we will get a huge boost in signatures. And also consider, why it might only be 40,000 or so, it keeps increasing. And one day if we get to a 1,000,000 or some huge number like that, things will become even more obvious then they are.

1,000,000 signatures? Do you really think it will make it that far? It took approximately a year to reach 40,000 signatures. At that pace, if it increases steadily, it would take 25 years to reach a million. If we waited that long, we would probably be too old to care anymore.
