That's what I tried to do, DJ. It didn't work. The stream appeared as unsupported.

It worked for me, after I installed CCCP.

It looks good, but in the Opening Crawl, letters with holes in them started smearing vertically as the crawl got closer to the top of the screen.

dudefromthenorth, are you using a PS3 or standalone player?

Um, a WinXP machine at work actually.

I also might as well ask a question that I have had for some time: will the MBR editions' video readily sync to all their respective audio tracks?

Also, I am currently trying to use TSMuxer to re-mux the m2ts of the Blu-Ray sample into a new Blu-Ray.

Yes it won't play on PS3, I just tried it to and get same error, I am working on finding out why now.

OK it is playing fine now on my PS3, demux the video and audio from the stream and remux into AVCHD, don't know why it worked, but it did.

That is the biggest problem I keep running into, the way the crawl breaks apart towards the top, and the funky glow on Tantiv IV's engines as it goes by, if I could just figure that out.

I did that... it didn't work. I just got audio not video. Weird. What model PS3 are you using? I have the original 60GB with Backwards Compatibility.

well I still have other options to try out, but it seems like it is all the out in space scenes that have issues.

All right... weird. I remuxed your Blu-Ray into another Blu-Ray (not an AVCHD) using TSMuxer and now I have it working. I have to say it looks surprisingly good for being GOUT-sourced, DJ. It holds up well enough on my TV screen. Of course, grain is more apparent and it doesn't look cutting edge HD, but it's certainly impressive. I enjoyed it.
However, I also notice pixelation in black/dark areas like space. I'm not sure how you can improve this. Ah well. It seems as though you should use as little compression as possible.

As I said before, I think a DVD-9 sized Blu-Ray would be too small since the basic DVD is already a DVD-9. You really should shoot for a BD-25.

Judging from the quality presented here, I might just skip the V3 and go straight to this one, which makes it easier since I have a Blu-Ray burner ready to go.

I tried to put them where they are on the GOUT, but I am limited to what IMGBurn will do, when I watched them they were not even noticed on my player when the layer changed, I really don't know why this question is always brought up, new players should play right through smoothly.

The reason I ask is because all of my players (except my computer) pause at the point of the layer breaks, on every DL DVD I play. That's 1 old Sony, 1 new Sony and my new Panasonic Blu-Ray player (BD65).

Guess it's just me (?) :-/

I was kind of under the impression that the only players out there that played DL DVDs seamlessly were Oppos.

That's odd that even a new player would pause at layer breaks. Are you talking about when playing factory made DVDs or burned DVDs?

Both.

I'm using a crappy $40 Sony DVD player from Target, and it plays through layer breaks seamlessly every time.

So do all my DVD players and Blu-ray players, that is why I thought this was a thing of the past.

That's odd. All my DVD players pass through layer breaks seamlessly. There was only one time when all of them stuttered before passing through a layer break, and that was in my burned Editdroid SW1977 DVD.

It sounds like you may have sorted things out already, but you might try the free multiAVCHD (forum) for making AVCHD discs or files. It supports PS3 and menus, although I usually use it for muxing mkv (x264/AC3) files into AVCHD formatted files to play from SD card.

Wow, DJ, that sample looks much better, in comparison with your mkv sample it actually looks like a difference between HD and DVD. I don't know anything about scripting but if you can adjust the settings on a shot by shot basis, you may want to hold back on sharpening on the crawl and the flyby as that's what I think is causing the issues you mention. You must remember that that whole shot is taken from a different source than the rest of the GOUT.

No one answered my question earlier. Will the Maximum Bitrate Edition readily sync to the standard V3's audio tracks?

I watched the first hour of the GOUT V3.  The quality was very good and it just felt right.  The binary sunset scene gave me the chills, like it used to before the SE came out.

I'm hoping for a little time tonight when I can crank up the 5.1 and really enjoy it.  I'll post a further review later.
