Maybe your right but that first cap of Threepio is kind of off, perhaps this is the gout.

I forgot that they corrected the colors when they did the DVNR in the early nineties.

Must be too used to how the films looked on video before 1993.

The earlier transfers were far too desaturated and faded looking.  With brightness turned up.

Starting with the New THX approved transfers they were more Saturated looking.  The 2004 is just all wrong though.

 

My faces laserdiscs pressed in japan have neither the sharpness or the saturation of the gout even if they came from the same master.  The  softness in the picture makes the DVNR smear on especially very grainy scenes less horrible.

I still wonder if they added sharpening to the DVD's, Star Wars looks horrible and unwatchable on the gout DVD.  While the laserdisc is certainly passable for 1995.
