I didn't think ESB really had any deleted scenes outside of that scene "You should wear girls clothes more often" shown in Empire of Dreams. Other than that is was just outtakes. Sometime movies just fall into place and don't have a lot of deleted footage. ESB is an example of that, what other movies are examples of that?

What are you talking about?  There's a whole deleted sequence with C-3PO letting wampas loose in the base during the attack.  And there's the additional Dagobah training sequences, with Luke training with his lightsaber while Yoda coaches on his back.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the two that come to mind immediately.

Well, there's 3P0 ripping a sign off a door and god knows what else.  Most of the Wampa footage was unusable, and the sequence never was finished.

O.T. or No T., baby!

Wasn't there a whole romantic hallway scene between Luke and Leia that emphasized the love triangle? Also, I think there are scenes of Luke recovering and having this mask placed on his face. I really hope that Lucas doesn't decide to "Special Edition"-ize the deleted scenes for the Blu-Ray. I have no problem with him finalizing them (putting ambient noise) but I have a bad feeling that he may go further.

Hello, have been visiting this thread over the past few days, and I had a few questions I was wondering if anyone could clarify.

First, about the THINGS NOT BEING DONE:

   1. Not adding landing crafts to deploy AT-ATs.
   2. Not making the AT-AT lasers green.
   3. Not making it so the fleet jumps to lightspeed just before the credits.
   4. Not adding Mon Cal ships to the Rebel Fleet at the end.
   5. Not adding music from the prequels or music that wasn't originally in the movie.
   6. Not adding Luke's vision so it can be seen like Anakin's in ROTS.
   7. Not adding anything just because its in the Expanded Universe.  The EU doesn't exist for the purposes of this edit.

Are these not being done because they'd take too much effort, or are they things that exist but have been chosen for directoral reasons not to be added (besides #7 of course)?

Just my own observation, but I imagine #6 isn't being done because those scenes look fucking atrocious.  I hated Anakin's 'visions'.

OMG as soon as I read that, I thought to myself, "would GL be crazy enough to add that to ESB?" I think he just might be.

I don't have a bad feeling at all about anything Lucas may or may not do....now that the re-edit alternative (read: Revisited) has been provided, I don't care if Lucas releases versions spliced with Howard the Duck footage. With his unwillingness to release the original versions, and with Ady's versions being exactly what any "special edition" SHOULD have been, Lucas and his ever growing library of revised editions are officially dead to me.

i remember reading about those scenes in the novelization, but i didn't know they were deleted scenes.

And yea, C3PO ripping the sign off the door i think was in the original trailer for the movie.

Is it taboo to ask about a rough timetable here?

I'm not asking for anything specific, but we're looking at a release by the summertime right?

Author
Time

Not necessarily. Didn't Ady indicate at some point that it could  be closer to the end of 2011? Or did I just hallucinate that?

Yeah, end of 2011 is what he's shooting for right now, IIRC.

Bits of the deleted scenes can be seen in the trailers on disc 4 of the 2004 DVD set (or you can go to starwarz.com to see most of them).

Just because a scene is mentioned in the novelization or original screenplay doesn't mean any footage actually exists, of course.

Author

Naturally.  But on-set photos have recently confirmed that the Dagobah lightsaber training was, in fact, filmed, and parts of the Wampa attack were filmed (though the sequence was dropped as the Wampa costumes sucked ass).

Author

But, um, just because there are on-set photos of something does not necessarily mean it was filmed. They could have been taken during a rehearsal, or some such thing....

....right?

wow, the SE versions still seem like they only came out yesterday to me and yet theres people who have grown up with the SE

This might make an interesting new thread.

I once worked with a guy who had *NOT SEEN STAR WARS *!  But the real kicker was that he had seen Space Balls.  So that was his memory of the whole Star Wars thing.  I didn't even know how to react to this person.

The first time i saw star wars was the SE in theaters. I later got the Original version of the films for my birthday and then that christmas i got the SE of the films.

I'm surprised that GL didn't think of everything that Ady has done. In a documentry or something i know he said that he didn't want to make everything look like a brand new shot, in other words not like the original versions of the film.

But listen to the fans. That's what Ady's doing and he's doing a hell of a job. :)

Yep

Ive never seen any confirmation that the Dagobah remote scenes were filmed. But I have watched actual footage of 3PO tearing the sign off the wampa holding room and then the snowtroopers walking inside. Ive also seen footage of the white healing mask being pulled of Luke's face.

But I don't know if the Dagobah remote scenes were ever filmed.

Wow. That is so cool.

Now if it ever sees the light of day....

This blu-ray set really needs to be as all-inclusive as possible.

Author

Huh.. those training scenes look pretty cool after all. I might want to see the set. Hopefully, it will be like the Alien Anthology set and have all the deleted scenes, as well as all past special features.

Author

LOL....yall DO remember WHO these DVDs are coming from right?

Author
Time

Yes.. That's the kinda of content I want on the Blu-Rays.

Hey Ady, not to bother you or anything, when is the next time we will see one of those screen shots of the current progress of the film. It has been a while since I can remember a post like that.

Keep up the good work!
