Have they done Planet of the Apes yet?
Don't know how long it's going on, but it's their focus titled The Music Of Jerry Goldsmith. Right now they're playing the score from Alien - possibly my very favorite film score ever.

They did play Planet Of The Apes - and nearly every other thing he ever did. I made the post soon after I got to work in the morning and the Goldsmith tribute was still going on at 3:30 in the afternoon. Not sure how long it lasted.
Too bad I missed it. :-(
My fave is Star Trek the motion picture, but the rambo themes thrilled me as a kid.

Yes, he was a very talented composer.
Possibly the only other Composer who stood on the same level as John Williams, in film music.
Incidentally Star Wars 1977 and Star Trek 1979 are often rated as two of the very best science fiction scores ever recorded.
I think Goldsmith best stuff though was in experimenting with sounds. Like in the Omen, Planet of the Apes and The Twilight Zone, and Outer Limits.
The music creating an atmosphere of creepiness.
His themes so dominated Star Trek though when Abrams did a reboot of Star Trek in an alternate timeline they went in an entirely different direction with the music. The New Trek score is very Williams-esque. Lots of use of Leitmotif, and themes for the characters a lot like star wars.

A few seconds ago, as the host Dave Z was introducing the next score - Star Wars - he gave the rundown of the Academy Awards it received then said "most people know it as Episode 4, but we know it by it's original name - Star Wars".
Excellent. Email to XM on the way.
