I almost regret mentioning the green left edge now.  It was such a minor thing, and very clearly a GOUT source issue.  I wish I had noticed it a month ago when the screen caps were posted, but I really didn't notice it until I saw actual clips.   FWIW, I don't see it at all on the bonus clip from last week.  More evidence of a GOUT source problem.  Chalk it up as Yet Another Problem with the GOUT, I suppose.

I'll say it again, though...  DJ you've done a fantastic job.  Hands down, the best original trilogy release ever.  This will probably be the version I pass down to my kids.  ;)  

Anyone that is truly complaining about something you did or didn't do to their liking?  Ungrateful asshats, the lot of them.

The Bonus clip last week was the JSC V2 Star Wars, not the GOUT V3 SW.

Sorry, I didn't mean that at all, I meant the overall green tint as shown in the screencaps I posted. It was a misunderstanding and I apologise :-) The colours are definitely improved overall, it was just the crawl that I noticed.

Actually, the PAL GOUT has a tiny bit of extra (verticle?) detail. I thought it was just the exact same as the NTSC for years, but there is a difference apparent in some shots, though it is almost imperceptible.

With regards to the title crawl colour shift, I can only guess that this is because the GOUT is so red-shifted G-force green-shifted it to get back to more natural colours. Unfortunately, the opening crawl and fly-by is a new(ish) transfer and not part of the 1993 master, so it has no red-shift in need of correction, therefore it simply gets an extra green boost. If you really wanted to correct this, you could simply turn off the hue adjust for that one extended shot and it should look normal again. But it's not a huge deal to leave it in.

Or just take the crawl from another source and then keep the rest GOUT? But that would defeat the purpose of it being a GOUT project I suppose.

There is no non-GOUT original crawl, except the virtual Editdroid one that pales in comparison. But it would be pretty easy to simply leave the hue adjust code out for the first minute or whatever, rather than working with different video files.

I don't own any PAL releases, this is just from the screens posted by others. Maybe it's a ROTJ only thing, I thought I remembered screens from ANH as well, but maybe in that case I am remembering how Moth3r's ANH PAL has better verticle resolution than the GOUT.

I believe it is only Jedi, that is why g-force used the PAL Jedi, the NTSC versions were better on the other 2.

So just to be clear, is the GOUT Trilogy the Definitive Collection or the Faces Collection?

The GOUT is the master created in 1993 for the DC, but I believe the same master was used again for the 1995 faces.

Alright, well, I've received the discs in the mail.  Preliminary report (I've only skimmed a bit of SW):

- Image quality is simply awesome compared to the letterboxed GOUT.  The MKV sample is a very good indicator of the overall quality of this release.
- Subtitles are perfect!
- Chapters start slightly too early each time.  It's like the chapter stops are timed for the PAL GOUT instead of the NTSC, so while they start just fine, by the end they start about 10 seconds too early.
- There's a little bit of a blue tint to the stars in some scenes, but it's hardly noticeable, and it's nowhere near as bad as the ROTJ GOUT.
- I really wish that choosing an audio option either took you back to the main menu, or started the movie, but that's a nitpick
- I've spot-checked every audio mix at each chapter stop, and they all seem to sync perfectly

Further updates as I have them.  I will say this, though - from everything I've seen so far, this by far the definitive GOUT enhancement project, and possibly the definitive representation of the OOT on DVD.

The cells were ripped with PGCDemux from the GOUT DVD's themselves, I wonder if this is obviously not that accurate? also I SUCK at menu's, I actually hate them because of this fact, I really wish I could do them better, but for now I can't, feel free to rip everything and make your own if you like, but I sure would like it to go back to the main menu also, I wonder if that is something that can be done with DVDRemake Pro? also check out the ESB rare recordings, I could not figure out a way to do this so I hope the way I ended up doing them works.

Back to menu's though, I wish there were some real good tutorials out there on how to make some nice ones.

Things move so fast around here so I'm late to the game. But wow this looks great. I'll hold off and wait for MKVs. Thanks so much for looking into this and trying it out. I've converted a few mates over to XBMC, and none of us use discs anymore except to rip to hard disks. x264s/mkvs are going to be cherished among us.

That's OK CA, I put a score only track on all 3, you can only get to it with the remote, yes it was hidden LOL.

Out of curiosity, where did you get the score only tracks for ANH and ROTJ? Are they from the Editdroid disc, Classic Editions, etc?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how to make DVDLab Pro go back to the main menu after making a selection? right now you have a main menu that links to an audio options menu, then when you select your audio option you have to hit back to go to the main menu and play movie, like CA said, it would be nice once you select audio it just goes back to main.

That might be the best thing to do - select audio track, then the menu selection defaults to "resume film" after the audio track is selected.  The user can either press "enter" to resume the film, or press "main menu" to go back to the main menu.  I've seen a large number of retail discs like this.
