Hmm, "motion smearing" may not be so bad, one of the annoying things I've noticed about the Special Edition (beyond terrible CGI acting) is the wonky depth of field, many things seem to have the wrong level of sharpness or focus, too many addons are in sharp focus, and things that were adjusted to get rid of the lovely 1970s in-camera effects now are blurry.
Hmm, I'll try avoid the edits with "crushed blacks".
Thanks, I've subscribed to that thread, and will observe (and wait it seems :) ).
If anything GL's odd mixture of insecurity & arrogance has forced many to *not* take for granted , um, many things about Star Wars ...
Addendum:
Do any of these preservation efforts still have the original 2-channel audio? Or have they all been upgraded to 2.1 and higher surround sound?
