Off-line PS3 upgrade

So my PS3 tells me I need an upgrade to play a RedBox BluRay. Is there any way I can do this without connecting it to the net? Is it possible to download the upgrade on a PC, burn it on a disc and do the upgrade off of the disc?

Probably, I know you can do this with standalone blu-rays. You can also try with a USB drive.

Frink is right(damn that is just wrong admitting he is right) you should be able to download and use a USB stick.
