the "no comment" quote makes me wonder, is there a future release of the OOT? I would say yes. First you have to buy the upcoming box set to get all the deleted scenes and good stuff, then they will release another set down the road with the OOT. Typical Lucas.

Did I miss something?  What "no comment" quote?

From Blu-ray.com:

Star Wars

Star Wars: Original Trilogy and Star Wars: Prequel Trilogy will consist of four discs each – one for each movie and one bonus disc. Star Wars: The Complete Saga will have an additional special features disc, for a total of nine.

The remastering of the movies has been performed by Lucasfilm and will offer "the most recently updated versions of the movies," with "even more enhancements to the picture quality." When asked about Fox's answer to the fans that want to see the three original versions released, Marcais replied: "The versions that are being released are closest to George Lucas' vision. Other than that, no comment."

After re-reading that, what do they mean by "closest to George Lucas' vision"? Will they try their hardest to do what George says? Or does it mean the closest to his vision at the time of release, meaning his vision will change again soon and we'll release it again.

It's time like this that I wish I was in a movie and had conveniently just drunk a gulp of water so I could spit it out in shock and terror at something so stupid.

I mean, really?? First of all, no one cares about "George Lucas' vision" because he didn't direct ROTJ, for instance, and Empire was most certainly Kershner's "baby", not his (it's also the by far least altered one, to be fair). Lucas' "vision" is also what resulted in the SE changes in the first place, so basically, that dolt could've just pointed a middle-finger at the the interviewer, and the content would've been the same.

Jesus H. Christ, how... STUPID. Does anyone like getting a creepy, cult-like vibe from that whole crew? Just how fucking STUPID would anyone have to be to put THAT quote out there??

Well if they're going for the customer-unfriendly hat trick (along with no originals and the fugly new colors), it's probably the good new stuff like deleted scenes etc.. (With the 4th disc in the trilogy sets comprised of the existing stuff from the dvds.)

That's what I'm afraid of.  I've never nuked a blu-ray disc, but there's a first time for everything.

LFL is becoming just as bad a scientology. It will be a matter of time before they start killing people who prefer the OOT over the SE. Or they'll just sue.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. The movies change every time they're on a new format.

I'd buy a Blade Runner: Final Cut-style collection or nothing. And even then, after all this screwing around and middle-finger-to-longtime-fans from GL, I'd question parting with my money.

It's frustrating that GL changes the OT every seven years. Look at ROTJ: The SE of that movie has been around for 14 years, 14 years after that movie was released

Wow.  That is rather a creepy thought that the ROTJ SE has been around as long as the original ROTJ.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Yikes, this guy has been in the movie longer than not in it.

It's a wonder George isn't restricting all bonus features to the complete saga boxset.

If you wanna see Luke constructing his saber you need to get all 6. Hwha hwha hwa hwa hwa ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I wonder, will the Biggs on Tattoine scenes make it to the release, as well? Because they're both significantly better and more useful than this stupid "just finished assembling new plastic toy with screwdriver" piece of crap.

Author

It'd be a massive kick in the balls if it's not. I mean we had that on Behind The Magic for God's sake.

In others words, I wouldn't hold your breath :-p

Hey, just to make it clear, I'm not buying it anyway, and I've seen the scenes, so I don't really care - eventually they'll end up in the internet anyway :)

Just made a comparison between the "deleted scenes" and which should rather be reinserted into the movie, if any - as always, the guys at LF do all the exactly wrong decisions on everything :D

This is why the OOT will rot like a 1910s silent film-sheer incompentence.

For christ's sake there's copies at the Library of Congress. Get help, man... claiming LFL will kill people who prefer the OT reeks of insanity.

Hey, bro, get a humor transplant or something... at least we know for sure that Mr Plinkett really kills hookers!

I don't understand why LFL wants such a hefty price for these blu-rays when they don't even include the OT, something millions of fans want, but they include a crappy version we already have in higher resolution. Maybe if LFL would give us want we want, they wouldn't have such a problem with tracking down bootlegs/illegal file sharing.

Have you seen GeneralFrevious's other posts? I don't think it was a stab at humor...

It was a facetious comment. I highly doubt he meant it to be taken seriously...
