I've been considering doing a mild edit of 2010 that brings it a bit more in line with 2001 - that is, get rid of any sound in space, slow down the pacing a little bit, maybe remove some of the political bullshit (which wasn't in the novel, IIRC), and get rid of a lot of shots that just scream "EIGHTIES!"

You should also replace the terrible soundtrack that 2010 had.

Baby woke up and starting crying, so the other 100 minutes remain unwatched for the time being.

Rocky.

I watched it the other day. I forgot how good it was. It's a shame the other ones couldn't have been at it and the second one's level. The other ones just don't really touch it emotionally, and 5 and 6 tried too hard to.

A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

That was the first time i watched it in maybe 4-5 years and i also forgot just how good the movie actually is, Stallones performance was perfect i think also.

The Eagle.

Boring characters, a plot that I could care less about, and action scenes with such a shaky camera I couldn't even tell what was going on.

So, in other words,

A TERRIBLE FILM.

Julie & Julia

This movie was very good, and a lot of it has to do with Meryl Streep's wonderful performance. I didn't expect such an attention-grabbing plot. I was never alive during Julia Child's heyday, now I wish I would have been. Meryl plays the part so naturally. I also have to give major props to Amy Adams' performance. This movie was really good, and this is my own judgment. Whether or not Ebert thought it was good does not matter.

It is films like this that redeem the mistakes of modern film-making. An excellent effort, that doesn't try to be artsy or grand, it's just good.

Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time

Following a wonderful film like Julie & Julia is not a good position to be in on movie night. I tried my best to avoid the movie, because Uwe Boll literally destroyed any spark of interest I could possibly have for a video game adaptation. To add more to that, the trailers weren't doing this flick any favors. So I decided it best to never watch it. Thanks to Dish, and my parent's need to watch EVERYTHING, we watched this wonder of modern cinema.

I actually enjoyed what was presented to me. It wasn't as engaging, or casted as well as it could have been, yet I felt it had some good things.

I haven't played any of the games, so I don't really know much, but judging from what little exposure I've had to the games, I would say it did better than most adaptations. If you look past Jake Gyllenhaal's poor Persian portrayal, he does better than expected. I still think it was a bad casting decision. While actors Ben Kingsly, and Alfred Molina can basically play any ethnicity they need to, and in some respects, they add colour to the film.

The problem was that I didn't really care for what was going on. Dastan (Prince of Persia) is too much of a badass, so you can't relate to him, and you don't fear for him. He is going through trying times with no problems at all. Then he has the ability to fix any mistake he makes.

I was going to say "You have DISH Network, and your years of Starz just kicked in."

I'm wondering if we can use something like this to our advantage. Multiple reviews on the same movies because all of us with DISH have Starz...

Yeah, I like starz pretty well too. It's not full of crappy television shows like HBO and Showtime are. I got dish for movies, not shows.

Rocky 3.

I saw this film a few weeks ago myself.

May I ask if this was the first time you saw the film, or was it a re-watch after a long period of time? For me, It was the latter. I have warmed up to this entry a bit more, but It lacked the gritty feel of the first two. More scenes felt obligatory then needed to. And, I hated his hair. I am not much a critic of men's hair styles, but that one sucked even back in the 80's!

The missus and I watched Red last night. Man alive, I can't remember the last time I had such a good time watching a movie. IMO, this movie strikes a perfect balance of action and comedy. Highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Gots to have a mini-review!

Great film. A little bit like The Fly. Some great action scenes, and high production values. Solid plot, and I always cared about the characters. There wasn't a moment where I was confused about what was going on.

Probably my second favorite movie of 2009. Moon is first.
