A really nice cover Rikter. I assume you've made a similar cover to ANH and RotJ? The one thing that I think is missing is a THX bar at the bottom of the front cover and a 20th century fox logo at the spine. Just a thought.

If you want someone to host it. Why don't you ask this guy? http://www.prillaman.net/starwarsdvd.html

Hey all,
Given the less than amicable reception to the sales of my set, and the fact I found a supplier of blanks for cheaper, I am lowering my price down to $25 shipped for the 5 disc set and $5 for additional discs, effective tomorrow. I don't expect this to change anyone's opinion of my actions but I thought an update was warranted nonetheless.

one quick question. If these are sourced from laserdiscs, and were made anamorphic simply by deleting the black bars on the bottom, how can they look any better than the original LD's?

They won't. However, they will look better when you play them on a 16:9 TV because you won't have grey bars on the left and right hand sides of the image. Contrary to some statements, it doesn't look as good when you take a non 16:9 image and use the zoom feature on a 16:9 TV to blow it up. If you look at the Star Wars thread at [l]www.dvdrhelp.com[/l] , someone posted a link to a few pictures where a 4:3 image has been zoomed in on on a 16:9 TV. However, when you encode Anamorphically, the way the way I described, the image quality remains the same.

Also, deleting the black bars alone does not make something Anamorphic. That is only part of it. If you get a chance, delve into the forums at the link I gave above. There is a wealth of information there that could answer it better than I could at the moment.

again...my offer stands. 4 blank discs. Plus shipping.

That's all you pay.

Digitalfreaknyc, I have sent you an e-mail, But I have some questions.

All you need from me are blank dvd-r discs and then I just send
you the package with the discs in it, and you send them back to me with the dvd data
recorded on them?

And make sure you put enough postage on the package to get back to you. And that's it!

True, these probably aren't the best DVD-R's and personally, I only use something that's going to last but as I said, there's a possibility of having something that WILL last and at much cheaper prices than what TK47 is charging.

digitalfreaknyc is right! Buying "El Cheapo" discs to save a few bucks is one thing. But for archiving purposes it's definitely worth it to pay extra for the quality a good brand name will provide. You want your movies to last forever, so stick to tried and tested brands. Personally, I swear only by Verbatim. Excellent lifetime durability and not expensive at all but still more expensive than the "no label" type. Believe me, it's worth it!

I've been using these DVD's (or the like) and giving them to family members for about three years now and I have NEVER had a DVDr fail on me except for scuffs and scratches.

SURE they use some lower cost materials but just by buying and using name brand media does not prevent scratches or a 4 year old from running around the house with your DVD's screaming - look at the shiny DVD mommy!

I've always handle my DVD's like they were gold regardless of how much I pay (or how fast my son is ) and it's paid off as I have some of the very first CDr's from 6 years ago and DVDr's from 3 years ago that work just fine. SO I feel it's really in how you handle them not the brand.

I only use actual Hard-Drives for archiving purposes as they are way more reliable that burnable media sure it may be worth it to pay extra for the quality a good brand name will provide BUT the truth is most of these BRAND named DVD's when scanned with DVDinfoPRO you can see that most of the DVDr come from the very same factories as the el cheapos.

Anyone know the current status of the Torrent files? Nice to have a backup plan.

True, but most of the times those are rejects from the brand names. So who knows what's wrong with them! Is it significant enough not to buy them? For my peace of mind, I think so.

But we're getting off topic here so let's talk again about this in 50 years to see if our grandchildren will still be able to watch Star Wars from the same discs! Betcha the forum will still be active due to the fact that the OT will still not be available on DVD's!

Don't worry. I figured it was best to have two backup plans.

To f13fan :

That is the best looking set i have ever seen, very cool, those discs look like the best on ebay.

Everyone:

We need to compare all the versions, TR-47s the ebay sets and the torrents, see which version is the best.

We need video(fps), audio(Hz), aspect ratio info.

Hi. I've been reading these boards for awhile, but I am a first time poster. It's so cool to see fans helping each other out to share the trilogy.
You know, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before (sorry for repeating it if it has), but I'm really curious to see what people come up with once dual layer dvd burners become available later this year. With these, the quality can be greatly improved with less compression needed. I mean, some of these sets do have good quality now, but it can only get better with more room to spare on the blank dvds. Anyway, keep up the good work everyone.

i have 100% faith the set i just bought... DVD Set is gonna kick major tail. i purchased a set off of the same seller a while back and he assured me they were the same transfers (which in my opinion were absolutely flawless) of the films themselves the only difference (and in my opinion A MAJOR difference) is the packaging, now in a pretty cool 4 dvd case, and the inclusion of the "ultimate" bonus dvd that inclusdes the hour long Making Of documentary (which after talking to the seller he made me aware it is the FROM STAR WARS TO JEDI feature!) anyways, sorry for ramblin, im gonna sit by the mailbox and wait!

later guys
