If anyone wants any shots from Empire just let me know and I will see what I can do. ;)

My news reader is telling me I have about an hour left to go on the uploading of ANH from my '97 SE preservation. I was wondering as this is my first upload to a news group if someone could download this and report back if its a good upload or not before I proceed to upload anything else. :)

Many Thanks

I've already downloaded most of it.  I'll let you know at the end of the download if there are any problems. :-)

Yeah; it hasn't moved for quite a while now.  There are still some par2s that are incomplete, along with rars 94, 101, 104, 120, and 145-152.

I can't find it. what name did you post it under?

Well, enough of the archive for recovery is available.  I'll check the missing parts later and let you know, but everything seems fine.  I can't wait to watch this, so I'll use the pars and recover this now. :-)

Looks good so far!  The menu looks nice.  The audio reads as 5.1.  I'm really enjoying this. Great work! :-)

Just started to watch and WOW. You did a great job Lee! I've noticed that there isn't a pink tint to the Mos Eisley scenes. Did you do that, or is that just how the LD came?

Can't Wait for the other two discs!

Lee, I love your 1997 SE laserdisc transfers. Received them a few weeks ago and forgot to review. These are the versions of Star Wars I grew up with so your preservation is a very nice treat. I love the 5.1 surround audio. It sounds so much better than the 2004 DVDs. Anyway, the video quality is superb especially for a laserdisc. I seriously doubt (perhaps with the exception of having an X0 or X9) that you could capture in better video quality. I think the menus are great too. All in all, this is a worthy set and THE BEST '97 laserdisc preservation. Although, forgive me for asking this as it may have already been asked, but are you going to preserve the '97 supplemental disc with all the interviews about the making of the Special Edition? This may be only with the NTSC set, though.

Thanks for the compliment! :D I didn't do anything with the colours of the '97 SE so if Mos Eisley is less pink that's how it is on the LaserDisc :)

Unfortunately the PAL set doesn't have a disc like that. I have already included the extra feature's included in the PAL set on each DVD of my preservation. :)

I hope to star uploading Empire from the '97 SE in the next few days ;)

Lee, the other files for the SW '97 SE seem up and complete.  The upload seems to have gone perfectly.

This was very enjoyable.  I thought the colors looked great.  There were some color fluctuations at various points, but this might have been in the source, and I didn't find them too distracting.  Other than that, great work!  I eagerly await the completion of the ESB upload. :-)

Thanks for ANH 97 SE Lee. I was very impressed with the video quality and the colours seemed great too.

I have one question to others who have downloaded it; did any of you find the audio was a little quiet? Maybe it's just my set-up (perhaps a setting has changed somewhere). But not really a problem since I just turned the volume up more.

I can't wait to see ESB 97 SE, because I haven't seen that one in a long, long time. I have a really bad vhs copy, which really isn't watchable anymore.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but I did no colour correcting/calibration for the '97 SE preservation, so I can only assume these fluctuations are part of the LaserDisc presentation.

I started uploading Empire last night so with a bit of luck it should be done by the end of today (GMT) :)

Unfortunately there may be a delay in getting Jedi and the THX set up as I am booked in to have some surgery done tomorrow, nothing serious, but it means I will probably be laid up in bed for a few days afterwards. :(

Lee, hope all goes well tomorrow. You will be looked after by the nurses and in good hands. 8) Wish you all the best.

I'll report back about ESB 97 SE once your upload is complete and I've downloaded it. Looking forward to it as I haven't seen this version in years!!

If you have used the PAL UK set (it's written on the first page but i haven't read the whole thread), i remember it has (more or less annoying) curious color variation on the tatooine desert like "normal ~ a little greenish ~ back to normal.. etc

(i don't remember for the rest of the movie)

I brought it a while ago while i was looking for the best presentation (my French Set had dropout issue) but i sold it after noticing that.

The french set had not theses issue. (if i remember)

Just had a quick look through ESB Lee, and it once again looks fantastic. I haven't really watched it properly yet though, but for the most part seems excellent.

What surprises me is how similar the colours are to the 2004 SE in lots of parts where I thought it was actually different. Hoth is shocking more blue than I remembered, except for one or two parts. It's almost as if the 2004 is the exact same colour except with more saturation. The only thing that really stands out that is different (in terms of colour differences) is the lightsabers. Here in the 1997 SE the lightsabers are strong and vibrant whereas the 2004 SE they are much more muted. Quite interesting.

Good luck on your surgery Lee! I hope it goes well. Also, what is the Theatrical Star Wars Trilogy in Technicolor Reproduction Project? It sounds fascinating. Is it an attempt to make the color timing of the original trilogy look closer to how it looked on the theatrical prints? If so, I'd be very interested in it. After all, the GOUT is very washed out... What are you going to use as the basis for it: the old theatrical bootlegs? Sorry for getting a bit off-topic. That project just sounds so darn exciting.

Rockin, Aluminum Falcon thank you for your kind words, the Surgery was last Wednesday and it went according to plan, I am on the mend and hope to be back to normal very soon! :)

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to ask about this ;) The project is basically my attempt at taking the G-Force enhanced GOUT and colour correcting/grading it to match the photos from the Senator Theatre Technicolor I.B. showing as much as is possible. I don't want to go into too much more detail as I intend to start a new thread once I have some screen shots to share with everyone. :)
