sidious is a bad guy, yet he's intelligent. I don't see him giving the order of "kill the jedi" if he knows that they won't get killed by a couple of droids. He could order so to Vader... but to the Viceroy and his stupid droids? I think he would ask him to get'em out of the way, or "try to kill em" or "try to keep them quiet"... then the viceroy would try to kill them, so it makes him look even more like a badass
