I agree. This makes more sense in keeping with the original presentation of the film

Still, having everyone who commented is a bit much. It took me days to compile the ESBR list and even longer to get real names. And that cutoff date was almost two years ago!
I say we scrap the ESBR credits, save for the "contributors" or whatever, because if we're going to do all of the names, I should open enrollment again...

This.
I am rather new here so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but where can i find the purist edition?
fanedit.info, but I'm not sure if the link there will still be active. I've lost my Purist Edition.
Fanedit refuses to carry the PURIST. Not sure where to find it now...

I just sent you a PM, Bloodnose with Rapidshare links for the SW Purist Edition. Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to check if all these links are active still. Hope this helps. :)
EDIT: Shoot! JDownloader says these no longer work. Sorry, Bloodnose. :(
oh, whoops didn't see these posts before i sent you a reply saying that they didn't work, aluminum.
sorry bout that.
thanks for trying to help guys.
I just sent you a link to a torrent, Bloodnose. Check your PMs.
The Purist seems to be available on The Pirate Bay
Okay; Bloodnose, I just checked the rapidshare links again and all of them work except .part14.rar (guess JDownloader was wrong earlier). This will probably be faster than the Pirate Bay torrent with one seed if you could find the missing rar part. Try asking around; someone probably can get you the missing rar part. Can anyone please upload it?
Thanks for the help, Aluminum and everyone else. I can't believe how helpful people are on these forums.
looks like I'm here to stay.
Maybe someone can explain to me why they use JDownloader? I find it to be sooo inefficient. And why do I have to wait 30 minutes between each block of 100 MB? I never understood that. It makes d/l Adywan's DVD-9 version a very very long wait. It's been going for 2 days and is only now past the halfway point.
jdownloader has nothing to do with the 30 min wait. The wait time is set by the file sharing service (rapidshare, megaupload, etc.) if you don't pay for a premium account.
TANSTAAFL.
jdownloader is a great program. Without it, you'd have to manually start a new download for each rar when the 30 minutes was up.

I concur! ;)
What Plans?, you should try downloading something on Megaupload with jDownloader, even without a premium account. You'll plotz! I tend to get at least 1 MB/s speed with only 40 seconds or so between downloads. I can get in a few hours what used to take 1.5 days or something like that. It's a great 'set it and forget it' program that most people quickly wish had been around years ago.
^what they said. Before JDownloader, I was having to copy and paste addresses individually and having to be at my computer to start the next one, and when it's a 140rar archive you're downloading that takes its toll on your sanity.
^Plus, you lose however many hours when you're sleeping and all the time you don't happen to be sitting near the computer to start the next chunk. (I contemplated using the countdown timer on a watch at one point, but thought that was going a little too far) I love not having to babysit downloads.
As always, I recommend checking for updates with each use and installing any there are, as things change quickly in the digital storage business. The JD crew is usually very quick to deal with any new issues. (the Rapidshare fiasco comes to mind)

It will now only have a general "thanks to everyone at OT.com....etc" sort of thing.Oh good. IMHO you should do this for all three films... the long long long long credits of forum-names on ANH:R is pretty ridiculous.
I don't think it is ridiculous at all. The input i received from people here when i was doing ANH:R was invaluable and i thought it only fair that they be included in the credits. It was too difficult to keep track on who input what or who just posted to say hello etc so i included everyone up until a certain date. The same thing with ESB:R, but this time i noticed that there were some people just coming in without saying anything that would contribute to the edit, that seemed more like they wanted to get their names in the credits and some even admitted as such. But, as i promised to include everyone in the ESB:R credits, i will stick to my word and they will appear, but this will stop from ROTJ:R onwards
Thanks for the tip guys. I guess it's RapidShare I should be peeved at :P

Wait. I'm just curious. When exactly was the cutoff date? I'm just asking since I only joined in November of last year.
Everyone who posted on the ESBR thread until June of 09, I think.

Yeah, they angered a lot of people when they made radical changes to their service and lost a lot of long-time customers as a result. If you look at the edits at fanedit.info for the past...I dunno, half a year or so, you'll find very few Rapidshare uploads compared to in the not-so-distant past.
I think I'm with Ady on just having the names of those who actually put some work into the edits... you know, kinda like what the movie credits do anyways (list those who actually worked on the movie).
It will be nice to see my name in the list on EMPIRE:R.... maybe (though I have a feeling it will be like the "Bart gets a bit part on the Krusty the Clown show" episode, when he points out his name in the end credits as they fly by), but here is another idea (regardless of acceptance).
Only list the names of those whose ideas you actually use. That way, if someone posts just to get their name on a list, they won't unless they actually offer a reasonable suggestion, much less one worthy of using (since if it is used, that would mean some sort of involvement for giving a usuable idea).
I guess you could say it is the difference between the STORY BY and SCRIPT BY credits... one is for the idea and creation of the story, whereas the other is the actual written development and final execution of that idea. The script could be almost completely different from the initial idea (Dan O'Bannon's ALIEN versus Walter Hill's ALIEN), but the creator of the idea still gets credit.

Then you'd have people trying to get there first with ideas, or repeating ideas redundantly because they think it'll get them in the credits. All in all it'd undermine the relaxed atmosphere these forums have where people chip in because they want to help, not because they want recognition.
And that's also suggesting that the ideas Ady doesn't end up using are somehow of less value than the ones he does. To a dark place this line of thought will carry us :-)
Nah, the way Ady has already said he'll do it makes sense. He's kept his word about people who haven't directly contributed still being in the credits of EMPIRE:R (even though he's under no obligation to) but the way he'll do it from ROTJ:R onwards is more practical. I'd have no problem with him doing the same with every release (including ANH:R HD) only crediting people involved directly in the credits and having a more extensive ot.com credit list accessible from the menu.
Practicality, consistency, and saving Ady's sanity is more important than seeing my name at the end. :-p
So I finally got to watch the DVD-9 version. I don't know if it was just my computer or what... but I noticed several changes to the audio that I didn't expect. Can anyone tell me if those were intentional?
I noticed it twice. In both instances, the dramatic music seems to have decreased in volume, and it's almost difficult to hear. I played the SL DVD afterward to make sure it wasn't my imagination, and there's definitely a difference.

2. When the door to Leia's cell closes after she sees the mind probe.
