Citizen Kane recently showed on Turner Classic Movies in HD. It looked pretty good. Did anyone happen to record and/or capture it? Also, does anyone know if it is the same transfer in the US DVD or UK DVD, or is it a whole new transfer all together?
I believe TCM mainly upscales footage for their HD signal, so it was probably the same.

You mean the non Lowry touched version,lol.
Never seen a project on that and was not aware the UK had an not destroyed by DVNR version.
The USA version removed a lot of the grain if not all of it and looks like video it is a disgrace yet people loved it.

Yeah actually there was a non-Lowry touched version in the UK. They used a different film print if I remember correctly and of course they had the sense not to put a ridiculous amount of DVNR like Lowry did it in its early days. I haven't seen it but the grain structure is supposedly intact and the picture looks very good. Here's a review on DVD Beaver comparing it with the American edition. Has anyone or does anyone want to do an NTSC conversion for this fine release?
The Blu-ray with a new restoration should be out by the end of the year. Just be patient.
